What db is truly quiet?
Yeah, I've seen the db rating chart, and I've read reviews on other people, but even those people conflict with each other saying this db is loud when its supposed to be quiet by the chart. I'm sure the manufacturer could be wrong, but I'm curious what db you guys have experienced which is truly quiet.
This is for my entertainment computer that I'll be installing 2x120mm in it. Not that I care if its loud while watching a movie but I do care about its loudness when I have people over and we are casually talking in the family room. I'd like a pair of fans that you simply can't hear. CFM not so important since I will have 2 in there.

I reckon around the 12-14db mark or less would be fine. But obviously, thats for the fan only. You have to bear in mind the noise that any filters/grills etc would cause the air to make too..

Just pulling numbers out of my arse, but I think I have stealth fans around 40-50DB and they seem quiet. Usually 60-70db is like normal for a standard 80mm fan isnt it? I'd probably put that in the loud category.
I suppose anything under 40db is acceptable. I doubt youd notice anything under 30db? But my numbers might be way off. This is all from memory. Im sick and I cant be bothered to google ![]()

0db is truly quiet. But it is entirely possible to configure your machine to be totally passive.
