On my 93 Toyota Pickup, I had replaced the drier and condenser due to an accident. It originally had R12, but I filled it up with R134. Everyone said it shouldn't be a problem. Everything worked out great for about 4 months with ice cold AC.

One day, the pressure switch in the AC system decides to blow and freon leaked every where in the cabin. Not fun when AC dies in the middle of traffic on a summer muggy Miami day.

Anyways, I took about 2-3 weeks to tear apart the blower area and replaced the damn sensor. I figured while I'm there, I might as well replace the expansion valve. Put everything together, pulled a vacuum for an hour, system held vacuum, and started to fill it up with R134 again.

This time, pressure from the can just simply stays on the low side. It feels like the compressor is not even compressing even though the clutch is kicking in. When the compressor is turning, the pressure from the can on the low side just stays at a constant rate.

1) Does this sound like a symptom for the compressor also dying at the same time?
2) Could the new drier be already clogged up even if its only 4 months old? And if it is, would it cause what I am describing?

Personally, I think the compressor also died because if it was just a clogged drier, then it would at least be trying to suck the freon and trying to make a vacuum on the low side. So what you guys think? :)

In case you guys forgot, many moons ago, I was wiping my screen and a corner of my nail scratched the anti-glare coating. It was a sad day indeed for me as my dream monitor had been damaged by myself. But no more!

Funny story, though. I occasionally look around for hope in finding out exactly how to fix the scratch. I've come across sites suggesting things from buffing to car waxes to even toothpaste. Nothing ever worked. I came across this site that consisted of keyboard modding of all things. Apparently, modding & using 70-80s style keyboards is a bit of a cult among a lot of people. These guys seemed hardware modding savvy, so I opened up a thread inquiring about my monitor. One of the guys there directed me to a 5 year old thread at Hard Forums that has about 312 pages dedicated to my monitor. :D Talked to couple of guys, started my work, finished up and all is good!

First task was getting the beast on the floor and on top of a little rug. Their instructions talked about getting the monitor on its front face, but after doing the procedure, I realized there is no need to. Even in this first pic you can see the vertical scratch down the middle.

Many have warned about electricity still being inside this behemoth, but many also assured as long as I do not start peaking around the insides, I will be okay. Exterior casing was a little tricky due to snap locks, but I finally got it off.

Front bezel was a piece of cake.

And here is the problem I was told about all along. The front coating is actually a thick piece of plastic glued to the front glass. You can see the diagonal cut of this corner. All I had to do was start the peeling process.

I was warned that it was going to be a total biatch to remove, and it sure was. I had my GF holding part of the monitor while I was using both hands to pull on it.

Removed! Only problem left was a bit of adhesive left over. I was paranoid about using a blade, so I started first with adhesive remover. Unfortunately, it wasn't strong enough. I got the flat blade out that I use for the glass stove top and started at a corner. I was 99% positive it would not scratch the glass, but was still very paranoid. Success at the corners led me to removing the rest of it.

And here is the dirty little booger that has caused me so much grief. The big boy now feels like brand new. The coating actually acted like a sun shade, and I had to fiddle with my color and brightness settings a little bit, but all is perfect now. Words alone can not explain how ecstatic I am of this. I'm now considering to paint the entire housing of the monitor black ;)

got back from night fishing bluefish about 2 hours ago down in Bel-mar, they were popping over the rails like fishing in a bucket! i brought about 10 over the rails and lost 6 more monsters with broken lines. it was a friend's bachelor party so there was about 15 of us cranking those blue beasts in. there were a bunch of tangles but the mates quickly got them sorted an the fun resumed.

i let the mates fillet about 12 of them to take home and had one gutted whole in the fridge to show my son when he wakes up in a couple hours. he's gonna freak! i take him fresh water fishing almost every weekend during the summer and the biggest thing we got was a 10" bass. we catch and release since they have all been shorts this year.

gonna go for tuna or salmon in a month or so and i've been told that bluefishing compared to tuna is like fishing for sonnys. i can't wait for that fight!! (other than watching my kids catch their first fish)

anyhow, the sun is coming up and guess what im making for breakfast in about 10 minutes? LOL
that was the best time i have had fishing in my life!!!
