Ive been looking at this supra for awhile and i called em up to find out a little more info on it and this is what i got
Year 1987
Price $2,195
Mileage 141,000
Exterior Color Black
Interior Color Champagne
Turbo
Manual
Targa Top
Its from a dealer and they said the only thing that is wrong with it is the blow off valve is clogged and needs replaced. Ive checked prices on bov's and i wouldnt mind getting an aftermarket one anyways, but how much trouble are they getting them installed/fixed? But What do you guys think is it worth buying?

Not a bad looking car. However, I would def check it out in person before buying. Also test drive it, find out how it runs ect.
Clogged BOV? They don't get clogged, they either work or don't. Replacement, easy, unscrew the clamp pull it off, replace.

It's possible to clog a blowoff with oil from blow-by. Removing/replacing most bov's are cake. Scoobies are just two bolts and the clamp for the re-circulator hose.
Check the car carefully. Older turbo cars had issues with people killing turbos because they don't let them spin down. If it's blowing enough oil to clog the bov beware. If you do get it buy a turbo timer. Your turbo and wallet will thank you. ;)

Not just that, but you also don't know if the previous owner(s) ran the engine without oil. The turbo uses engine oil for lubrication, and if it didn't get any for a short while, it WILL be toast.
The 7M-GTE block, like any other Toyota, is pretty reliable. Their only problem was they liked blowing up head gaskets with high boost.
If you are serious into buying a high mileage turbo car, I'd recommend you buying a cheap boost gauge, and using it as a daignostic tool everytime you test drive a car. It would help if you knew the boost curve for that specific car to make sure it's boosting properly.
Now buying a car with a bad turbo isn't exactly a bad thing. It's just means you can tell the owner the turbo is toast, lowering the price of the car, and buying an aftermarket turbo :D And while you're at it, upgrade the IC, BOV................... damn you know this turns into a disease :D
I don't know exactly what your knowledge of turbo systems is, but don't let him tell you it doesn't boost because the BOV is shot. The BOV is simply designed to vent boost to atmosphere after letting off the throttle while under boost. Well......if the BOV is stuck open, then you won't boost because it's all venting out. This is a tricky situation. If the BOV IS stuck open, then you won't be able to tell if its not boosting because of the BOV being shot or because of the turbo being shot.
There IS another reason why you won't see boost. The wastegate (WG) could be stuck open thus preventing exhaust from reaching the turbo. The WG and BOVs are both easy cheap fixes. Problem is, if you don't know how to diagnose it, you may be looking at a bad turbo. But if you ARE able to diagnose it, you could always lie to the seller, tell him the turbo is bad, and get a better price :D

That's major BS. Don't buy that car.
With boost venting, the car will simply feel like the NA version and will be able to do beyond 100mph.
Well, you COULD buy it, but be prepaired to do some repairs which will consist of more than a BOV. I mean, you just really don't know till you get it fully diagnosed.

Having a wastegate stuck open doesn't allways mean it won't boost. The STi's have issue where the wastegate doesn't flow enough and you get boost creep. A little port and polish solves that thou.
If it doesn't go above 50 I'd really stay away. Something is vrey wrong and can be a lot of money to fix.

Yeah you're right. Should have called it more like low boost. Then again, all our cars are different :P
Sometimes boost creep doesn't even become an issue until you've REALLY opened up the exhaust.

Like flybye said, they are full of it.
My car ran fine with a broken BOV diaphram. I was only making 6-7lbs of boost however.
