Videologic Sonic Fury versus Soundblaster Live

Hi,

how does this Sonic Fury work on the KG7 (which has the 686B)? Does it have the same cracklings and noises the Live produces? :confused:

Yes...in fact I highly recommend that sound card.:)

My current soundcard of choice is the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz based on the Cirrus Logic chip. Ever since VIA became a big player in the AMD market (with their less than steller PCI bus design) I've been using the Santa Cruz with 100% success. No crackles or pops...just good sound. There are certainly ways to make the Creative Labs sound cards play nice on VIA chipsets, but, in my opinion, it isn't worth the hassle.

The Sonic Fury is actually the same card as the Santa Cruz, just sold under licence by Videologic in Europe under the Sonic Fury name. So, in my opinion, it would be an excellent choice for your KG7. That sound card has no 686b issues whatsoever.

Bottom line...Go for it...great choice:D

Sorry to here that card didn't work.

Hmmm....I just checked the specs on the TERRATEC XFIRE 1024 and it is not based on the Cirrus Logic chip. In fact, that card is not related to the Santa Cruz or Sonic Fury in any way. It's a completely different design...and a much older card.

I thought you were getting the Sonic Fury?

I thought too, but I could get this card cheaper. It has the Crystal Cirrus Logic 4624, the fury and the cruz do have the 4630.

Hm....I will keep that live for a while and will upgrade to an Audigy, someday :)
