Just a thought :D

Probably wouldn't be good for heat transferal. Chances are some crackpot has already thought of and tried it at some point :D

Well, people have definitely tried water / ethanol mixes, which is about all vodka is... Not sure about the performance though - might be better than antifeeze for chilled applications since the viscosity's lower, might not...

ethinol works well but it will destroy any plastic fittings you have on you system

Vodka is a bit starchy and may gum up? perhaps clogging stuff
I dont know for sure.. never drank any.
but i do know the floors at bars are usually sticky by nights end.

Ethanol would be great but theres no easy way to cool it down to -200F

every time it leaks or crashes, I think of using Vodka, or even any spirit close to hand;)

The floor is sticky because of beer, not liquor, and any bar that would spill that much booze would go outa buisness quick....

Vodka does tend to get thick at lower tempatures though, as low as -10c it thickens up nicely.

from what i remember from science class, water will absorb heat better than alchohol do to its specific gravity, conductivity and viscosity.
although alchohol would release or transfer the heat to the air better than water so it's a catch22.

if it didnt evaporate so damn quick, using grain alchohol in a water-bong cooling system would probably rock, but its been over 20 years since i had a science class, i tend to forget things now

the reason that alcohol transfers heat to air so quickly is the same reason it evaporates.

I imagine that your house would smell pretty spiffy if you used a bong / alcohol cooler LOL

But you are right.

I suppose during application you were mighty cool?

thats the problem i would envisage too...plus heat transfer issues

I tried the bong thing out. I'm told it makes my PC "look" heaps cooler.
Downside is, it didnt improve temps and its expensive to run. Upside is, I don't care so much anymore.
