FeD,
Yep, 24/7 here. I work at a local computer store called Data Eclipse(www.dataeclipse.com), Currently attending a local community college majoring in Network Administration. I have dabbled in a little bit of everything... Microsoft, Cisco, Linux, programming (C++, C#).

I think Cisco will be my main thing, hopefully getting my CCNA, CCNP and CCDA.

A+, MCP, MCSE should be in line also.

Currently I am a Pc Technician and am the Assistan Administrator for our local cable companies Cable Internet Access.

I know their was another thread floating around, but its fun to tell about everyones RL.

What about you fed? what do you do?

i currently don't work right now....i've been out of work for two months and living off my tax return...hehe....i still live with the folks and i just got done with my associates last month. I have a A.A.S. degree on Computer and Information Science, majoring in IT Networking. I'm planning on going back to school sometime this year to finish and get my bachelors on Information Technology and hopefully land a job locally, Richmond, VA (Microsoft).... or somewhere in CA, Washington D.C.

I'm still looking for employment right now, but i got turned down on 5 job interviews because I am currently not a US citizen ( i filed for it already so i should get it sometime this summer). Most Networking job here (and im sure anywhere in the US) requires a security clearance.

Wes, thats good that you work on a local comp store. At least your getting experience and that's what i need to be doing too. I have my A+, and Fiber Optic cert which look good on my resume but i still havent put it to use. im working on taking the MCSE test but i still chicken out when im about to sign up to take the first test (MCP).

Maybe we could start a chat here in liquidninjas.com for something like a study group that would be towards completing certifications.....*ahem* admins, hint hint.....hehe....j/k

Been a Pc Tech for 2yrs now, should have my A+ by now, but like you have put it off. I always think I have bigger fish to fry... i.e CCNA...lol. I manage and develop several different e-commerce websites. I'm really a coder by trade, but I end up doing database, networking/IT, even programming phone systems.

If I got to pick a trade, it would be in robotic engineering or game development, both of which I have had as hobbies at one point or another.

Most of the robots caught fire though. I had a thing for autonomous rockets....

so of that stuff is pretty neat but i only see that sort of stuff here in the states from time to time, plaster is not that common since most municipalities have codes against it (earth quake codes and stuff like that).

I was an electrical foreman for a larger company but gave that up to do services calls instead.

SleepO, i figured you were some kind of electrical trades man because of your current avatar with the klein tools logo and all. my bro loves some of that klein stuff and he is a drywaller :pimp:

Lets see, before disability there was, musician/instructor, carpenter, metal urgist, steel fabricator, machinist, heavy equipment operator, part time computer repair, mechanic, switchman/brakeman(railroad), swin instructor, martial arts instructor, cook, commercial painter. One or two I dont remember.

I worked from the time I could hold a tool man. Started earning a paycheck when I was 14, and did about everything a blue coller worker could do I guess, and one or two they dont. ;)

However, in the year and a half I have been here, I have to say they have made VAST improvments. The Pro200 or 330 suck compaired to a TZ170 and Pro3060 or Pro 4060 and the new OS they use. Not much you can't do with one these days and its not as much as a Cisco.

Hey Synth, I have a few things in common.

ASE Certified Master Tecnician-13 years, L1 Emissions Certified, VA State Emissions Certified also. Work at an independent repair shop. We work on Volvo's and Volkswagen and soon to add BMW. Been messing with computers since I was a kid and took a BASIC programming class in summer school...for fun! That was '83 I think and we programmed on Atari 400's and 800's. Don't really program anymore. I'm basically our shops IT guy and fix everyones computers. All our techs have computers on their tool benches and generally screw them up every week or so. Married for two years. No children yet (thats why I get to buy any computer gear I want :) he he ). On the weekends I'm either drinking or nursing a hangover and eating bad food. Got my nic from my days of playing UT. I used to go by Smelly_Balls but I found that too offensive so Nut_Bag stuck :) Oh, and I usually kill threads. :D

:D I personally don't find it offensive. I actually ran a UT2003 and 2004 Server with that as the Server Name for some time. I was only Jokin really. It was when my friends and I play online games we would use nics like those so we could always find each other easier. Not to many people go by Nut_Bag vs someone who goes by say Champ or something queer like that. I actually googled Nut_Bag and I think I'm pretty much the only one. LOL well you know how it is, a word/name is suddenly made cool by a movie and every wannabe has to use it so they think they're something.

What bugs me is when you use a ncik and then some movie/game or whatever comes out using that nick and everyone thinks you chose it because of that. Example, I used to use the nick Doom ... this was way before Doom (the game) was even thought of, hell 3D gaming was still a pipedream then. Then Doom came out and 10 billion people became Doom, so I quit using that. Now I use the nick Kill-Switch, last year a game called Killswitch was released (god damnit) and apparently there's a group called Killswitch Engage or something!

Perhaps I should copyright my nick next time (if I bother to change it again) LOL
