I just picked up some more parts for my Scoobie. :D

USDM 2.0L WRX motor, 8k Mi on it, V7 JDM TMIC, TDO4 turbo, JDM downpipe, and reflashed ECU. I'll be doing a writeup on it soon. :)

heh heh cool :D whens that going in?

how much power do those engines put out? and how much do they weigh? i have a friend looking at putting one in a kit car (mid engine rear wheel drive so he's researching gearboxes at the moment) and hes looking for an easy 350 - 400 bhp without too many reliability problems...

The USDM motors make about 230 @ the crank but that's with all the reistrictive cats on it. The JDM and EDM motors make closer to 300+ at the crank and I know of a few people with JDM swaps puting down over 310 to the wheels with some light tuning.

Weight? you can lift the block with 2 people easily. That's how we got it into the trooper (used the engine hoist to get it out). As long as you change the oil and so the major services the engine will last forever. You get into trouble when you start puting on huge turbos without doing proper engine management and fuel delivery.

It's going in as soon as I can get a bulkhead harness from a WRX. I thought I had one but something was lost in the translation and I ended up with a harness that allready on the engine. It really sucks because the wiring is the hardest part of the swap. Replacing the parts is easy, getting it to run is a different story.

I can NOT believe how mean the flat 4 sounds. Could luck with the install :)

And it's a 4 banger. I've always wondered what the flat 6 in the forester would sound like with exhaust....

I'm driving a 3.0l H6 SVX right now with a custom engine back exuast. It sounds so good I drive around town in 2nd. :D

I got more parts this weekend and a possiblity of a 2.5 STi shortblock for a next-year motor. :) I think I'm going to stop at 300 WHP. That should be enough usable AWD horsepower.

You know you won't.

Speed is like a drug. The more you have the more you want.

Trust me I know.
Flybye <------ 3rd gen RX-7 owner :)

When the RX-7 was my dailly driver in NJ, there was this one little hwy stretch where cops couldn't hide (barriers on both sides, straight line for a few miles). 150mph+ almost every saturday morning :D

I take care of the true speed fix at the track where it's safe. The highway really isn't the place.... except if it's 3 AM and it's empty. ;)

I've been in some huge HP cars but I still find it more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

That's because you know the fast car will always be fast.

The slow car...well...it's always a challenge to see just how fast it will go :D

Don't get me wrong, I don't do crazy speeds with traffic. But when there's a nice open road with noone in site...... ;)

You should try driving on the Autobaun ;)

if you want a speed fix its gotta be a motorbike :D

v-twin power is definatly the way to go :cool3:

Dudes....gotta agree with Dicki on this.

Bikes are awsome. Got myself a GSXR1000 which blows nearly any car in to the weeds!

Quickest I've had so far is 175mph (Bagshot Road Dicki)

Thats the mantra of my 58hp 1986 Civic with 366,000 miles on it....VRRRROOOMMMM
You have to wind it out past 3000 rpm to keep up with traffic LMAO

I like to trundle around sedately in a big HP beast.:D
I find that I drive the backside off a slower car. And thats not a good thing. enevitably its not the one with the bilstiens and rollcage.:(

That lot looks great Fara. Should be heaps of fun. Don't believe oil will make it last forever , needs better main bearings or the old ones may claim your crank on the way out. It took a lot of dedicated abuse to get that result tho I will admit.

Hey Dicki, you must'nt have tried a fast enough car M8 :D Its different, but not less fun.

 you got a gixer thou? you mad bastard... please don't say its the new one as well?

i've got myself a VTR thou now and i am loving the v-twin torque, not had it anywhere near top speed yet and tend to keep it below 120, things just happen way too fast on public roads to be doing much more than that for me, though the bagshot road is perfect for it, good views, no turnings for car drivers to pop out of and no houses for a good few miles :)

i think i'm getting old though... i keep seeing those bmw 1150gs's about (the ones that look like patrick moor (Oo) ) and really thinking i fancy one as my next bike! i keep looking at the luggage and pillion seat and thinking its the bike for me! you might as well shoot me now

i've tried a couple of quick cars and they are an absolute blast, i will allways have quick cars in my life :)

however i still don't think you can beat a bike, hell i even enjoy them when i ride slow, my GF and i got caught in a torrential downpour the other day and i was having a blast! with a pillion and in the rain you think harder, look more often and ride smoother than at any other time and it feels fantastic, the satisfaction of a gear change you can't feel and the perfect line through a corner is just brilliant :)
