Well as some of you know I've gotten involved with a profromance shop and race team. We do Auto-x's and track events at road courses on the east coast. For those that don't know a auto-x is a road course set up in a large parking lot with cones. It's usually tight and you normally don't go over 100mph. It's a great way to learn how to drive your car and how the car reacts to input at speed without getting into a accident.
I ran my first ever auto-x this weekend and had a blast. I was planning to run my impreza but my engine blew up last thursday leaving me without a car. So I borrowed one of our teammate's cars. I raced a old civic hatchcrap that was in race prep (coil-overs, roll cage, harness', ect.) Guess what, I placed 2nd in G-class beating people that have been doing this for years. I put down a 42.4 second run on my last run to place 2nd .8 sec behind the guy who's car I borrowed.
Anyone that can find a race close to you, swing by and see what's going down. You'll see some neat cars driving pretty fast and maybe you can get in on the action.
Here's a link for the northeast NASA assoation (www.nasanortheast.com) Give it a try. :D
