into phase change cooling!!

Sometime early next week I will be the proud new owner of a vapochill classic.

The classic is built on the same compressor (danfoss bd50 I think) as the XE w/ the difference being the 404A and Chill Control V2 is on the XE. I intend charging mine w/ 404, don't think I'll need the V2 chill control.

Depending on clearance, I'm going to add a couple 92 or 120mm blowholes over the compressor area to deal with the added heat the 404 will bring to the danfoss as well as some fans at the top rear of the cooling system area.

I know normally its better to exhaust from the top, but with the power supply being right below the rear vent, and the condenser and fan in the front, would it not be better to force air in the top and then out thru the front and rear of the system in this case?

Also, I was wondering which power supply any of you vapo users are running. After this layout, I wont have enough dough to grab a pc power 510w or enermax right away, as my pelt system is going to need a solid PSU. I've heard pretty good things about the super flower units, and seen positive reviews, but would like some more opinions. Can any one give a yay or nay on these units?

I do have an extra meanwell 320 that I could put in, but that would kill the possibility of pelting another machine. I suppose I could always get another one down the road.

Definately appreciate all your input!

Welcome to the world of phase-change :)

I would strongly advice getting the ChillControll V2, there are loads of improvements made of the the V1 so get one ASAP.

PSU wise you're going to need a good quality one such as Antec or Enermax, the 12V rail needs to be rock solid. I personally have an Antec (see sig) and it serves me well ... cost a lot of money but i worth it :). There are major PSU compatibility problems due to the solid rails needed for the Vapochill, that is why Asetek will always answer you with "Try it and see" if you ask about any PSU. Antec or Enermax are the most popular because they are so well built and basically guarenteed to be what you need.

Yeah, I'd really like to get the PC Power & Cooling 510W unit, those are the PSUs I'd use if I had no budget. They design the PSUs for most major manufacturers' servers and put out rock solid voltage and current.

What do you think about my vapochill 'top shelf' airflow idea to move a bit of air over the compressor?

I would recommend it if you can muster the money! It will be the last ATX psu you'll ever buy.. trust me.. I bought mine almost a year ago and havn't looked at another stinkin psu since.
