Had a gba for a while just for a bit of portable gaming fun but always found the lack of a backlight very annoying.
Found a link to a company called triton labs that do a mod to put an internal frontlight on it.
So a couple of months down the line it's finally available in the uk so I'll be adding it to my little machine.
If anyone is interested I'll do a little review.

I would be very interested if you build it! I have a GBA and think it's the greatest invention next to sliced bread and the wheel... except for the darn screen! I've never soldered before, but I figure I could practice on an old VGA card, then perhaps move to the afterburner mod for the GBA and the finally on up to doing a voltage mod on my Abit. :)
btw - if you like to trick out your consoles check out my thread below in this forum, plenty of fun to be had in those sites it apperas. :)

mod done with bare minimum of irrevocable damage ;)
Soldering is fairly easy to be honest the hardest bit is having enough hands to keep thinks in place to solder them on.
It comes with a potentiometer that you can wire in to adjust the brightness level but you can not install it to simplify the wiring job.
I did this cos I didn't have a drill to put all the holes in required to make the pot externally accessable.
The trickyest bit is installing it without covering your screen in fluff can of compressed air would sort that out fairly easilly, but you have to be a bit carefull not to get any under the antireflective filter that you stick to the screen.
Makes a big difference though games are visible even in total darkness and it makes the colours a lot clearer.
I can post a few pics... as soon as I find my camera which I seem to have misplaced somewhere.
All in all well worth installing :D

Cool! Thanks for the run-down. Hmm... I'll have to take another look at that mod.
