You all have to have some sort of transportation. Bike, motorcycle, car, boat, van, horse and buggy (then again I don't think we have any Amish memebers), feet, whatever here's the place to show it off.

Try and post small pics that link to our gallery. We offer free image hosting so might as well make use of it. :D

These be my main mode of transport.

You really want my 90 Accord EX to disgrace the pages of ln.com?

If I dont get buried in snow and ice and can get my car to the shop, I'll post a pic after the tokico hp's and 1.25" drop springs go in. It'll get rid of that queer gap between the factory wheels and the top of the fender.

the car is another dodgy italian motor (you would have though i'd have learnt my lesson after the "lancia" incident) and the bike is a honda VTR firestorm :)

Im sporting a '95 Saturn SL2 with I think 1 inch lowering kit, K&N intake SPS Performance exhaust, dual friction centerforce clutch.
Leak in the radiator, possible leak in the head gasket, leak in the moon roof, back seat floor with 1/2" of water, no registration and insurance
I drive it to work 10 miles daily, and it brings tears to my eyes that I care more about my computer then it.

(c:

Oh yea.. a more impressive part of my car.. the 850$ MP3 from CD player, 150 watt kenwood amp, 850(850 I think.. maybe 800) watt Alpine V12 amp, 2 12" Boston Pro's, and 4 6" 100$ boston.

I should also mention my broken alarm system.. it works to unlock the doors, but the audible does not work (something to do with when my battery died a few months ago...)

Here's what totes my butt around as of late:

Main Ride:
http://home.comcast.net/~mdzcpa/images/forumpics/merc/side.jpg
2004 Mercury Marauder Limited Production Run
It's Big, Black, and real Bad
320hp V8 DOHC "Cobra" motor, 3.55 Posi, true dual exhuast, all wrapped up in a Luxury trim with all the amenities....yummy!

This is my daily ride which absolutely requires the ability to haul the entire family around (plus all their "stuff"), yet double as my "executive look" car for work, while also scratching the very intense muscle car performance itch I have. It's the only car that foot the bill.

She'll run mid to high 14s in the 1/4 and handles incredibly well for a big car. It's the last of the 100% north american V8 rear wheel drive cars.

But, of course, fast is never fast enough. So I have my appointment made for next month (when the snow melts) to get a Eaton roots-type intercooled supercharger put on. It'll make 9 pounds of boost at only 2000rpm and will take HP to about 390 at the wheels, and 430 at the flywheel. Best part is that it is a kit designed by Trilogy International which is located directly across the street from Ford World Headquarters. They do a lot of outsource R&D work for Ford's High Performance SVT division, and the kit is made soley for the Mercury Marauder.....so it'll keep all the OEM smoothness intact. Sweetness!

My fun car:
http://www.liquidninjas.net/mdzcpa/forumpics/mugshots/86mustang/picture%20002.jpg
http://www.liquidninjas.net/mdzcpa/forumpics/mugshots/86mustang/enginebay.jpg
1986 Mustang GT - Highly Modified
Typical 5-oh mustang fare here. She'll run 12s on pump gas. A blast to cruz in on summer nights:)

But....alas...she'll be on the for sale block this spring to fund my Marauder costs. No need for 2 12 sec cars in the family I guess.

Nice rides all.

My GF and I are running his n hers Mk2 Aussie Escorts.
Im in a sundowner Panelvan with factory 2L and bubble windows. Its still waiting for seamwelding and other chassis mods before I fit the alloy 8pt cage I have, and some assorted induction forcing goodies, diff, etc, etc.

The missus now has a 4dr RS2000 with sorted suspension quick shift, 4.1:1 diff and a sweet nacho donk. It is so good to drive I took the battery out. LOL

Will post piccies when I take them. I am totally stoked to report that our new accomodation has a large double garage underneath, with that polished concrete wipe clean floor. Compared to the old uneven dirt in the old place, I have never felt safer with a trolley jack and can't wait to begin restoring in ernest.

Happy driving.:)

I need to go back to school and get my BS degree in IT, then work my :mad2::mad2::mad2: off to own a TT car....

I test drove an RX-8 for almost 2 hours, so.... :D

Mazda did a great job in designing what they aimed for...a good semi-family car. The RX-8 is NOT the replacement for the FD (3rd gen RX-7). The FD was a pure, rattle your teeth on the track, take no prisoners, sports car. When the FD came out in 93, the R1 was pulling almost .99g on puny stock 225/50 16 tires. Hey, it was 1993 :P . Look at skid pad numbers today and you will see even today very few cars can get that high a G.

The RX-8 was designed for the average person and NOT for the diehard car fan. Mazda succedded in creating a car that everyone can enjoy. Their TRUE sports car, the RX-7, is in the works. No plans yet on what it will be, but rumor has it it may have the new rotary engine turboed and pumping out around 350hp. It's not a lot, but consider the fact that the RX-7 will probably weigh between 2700-2800lbs. The 1993 RX-7 had only 255hp and had a top speed of almost 165.

I wouldn't mind having an RX-8 for a daily driver, and have the RX-7 as the weekend warrior :)

i had both a 73 delta (what a monster) and a 83 delta, the 83 drove like a montecarlo though, it fits your body like a glove. i felt like the car was an extention of myself when driving, it had a 267j v6 which i thing was the best 6 cyl they made next to the grandnationals.

I had a brief encounter with a 69 Mazda R100 , but never got to drive it. Still have the 10A rotary engine from it tho lol.

Every car we have now is a 79. IMO a good year for cars. For those who care, thats a Mini moke Californian, Escort Sundowner Pvan and the missus has an RS2000.:)

1974 was the last year for most cars to NOT require a catylitic converter with all the emissions crap, but leaded gas is impossable to find at the pumps.

i had a 79 monte that fit me like a glove though...yeah 79 was a good car year too even with governmental regulatory emission standards.

Final performance numbers:

http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/image.php?u=1366&type=timeslip&dateline=1100387445

For those that do not know, it takes serious HP to push a 4500lb car plus driver into the low 12s with trap speeds in the 114 range. Right now the car dynos at 460hp at the rear wheels, and about 530hp at the block. Its currently documented to be the 4th fastest Marauder in the country.

Next season should see the car into the 11 second zone in the quarter mile.

That would be sweet. Go for the 351 if you can get it to fit (the deck height of the block is a real pain in the :mad2::mad2::mad2:), the extra cubes will really help you. That's why I chose a roots blower for the heavy car....281 cubes just doesn't make enough torque on its own.

What you can't see in that pic:

In the attached pic you can see the scratches that magically appeared between the time I dropped it off and picked it up.

This (http://www.dataeclipse.com/wes/badpaint.jpg) pic shows how bad the paint job really is. Orange peel everywhere! It really pisses me off, but I havn't paid for it and won't. The 351 will fit with a minor modification to the hood. If I go carb'd then it will fit with no modification, but I want EFI, so I'll have to make some sort of cowl hood. I've got it drawn up, but I'm not sure when I'll do it.

the new sti model give 310 right?? I almost bought one matter of fact I was taking a test drive with the new sti when a buddy called me and told me he could work out a great deal on the audi.. needless to say i left mastro subaru and went to the audi dealer.. and the hood I got from my father from my birthday a couple of months ago.. and it does get going pretty quick there is just enough hp to chirp the tires in 3rd.. *wife hate when I take turns* :scared:

I think the 05 STi got a little bump up from 300/300. I still like the older body style subarus better (93-01)

AWD rules on track. Nothing better than harassing vettes and other high HP cars in the turns. Power isn't everything on the track..... damn.... next trackday is Febuary at VIR. Long time to wait. :(

Actually power is everything on some tracks. I'm a complete small car fan and I love cars that handle. But I would have some trophies if it werent for 7L monsters that eat me alive at about 3/4 of the main straight. Sure I could climb all over them for the rest of the track, but it all comes down to how far down the main straight the finish line is, on just about any track. Plus its easier to pass on the straights, than turns.

aquacooled
12-04-2004, 09:57 AM
that is why I bought the S4 turbo AWD.. after engine mods I have 400hp I can hang in the straightaway too.. but when u have someone with a 600 or700hp car charging at u in the straight they come on me quick however then have to really back off when it comes to the turns then that is where I cant help but smile cause I know there mine.. when there letting off the gas I am just getting back on it throw it into 3rd or 2nd and drop the clutch and hit the gas and as it said IM GONE!!!!

Thats an awesome car for sure, weapons grade on a race track too. I have long felt that Audi and Subaru make the best cars in their respective price ranges, and I will continue to dream on. :D I still think RWD can be faster on some circuits, but the 4x4 will always be more versatile and forgiving. Great for passing on marbles. I would love to get myself a 4x4 cosworth RS escort one day.

only on the dragstrip.. I have beat 600hp cars quite a few times..

unacceptable_risk
12-09-2004, 10:04 PM
The thing is anything over 300HP at the wheels is quite a handfull to drive. So its more about setup than ponies at some point. A TVR Chimeara or Griff with 400HP is a devastating beast, and more than a match for the Audi at a similar price. A well sorted RX7 should also be compeditive, but harder to drive.

Here is a LINK to TVR Chim Picture. (http://www.pistonheads.com/tvr/tvr/images/chimaera-17.jpg)
When I worked for TVR I had an awesome British Racing Green 4.5L Chim with forest and doehide leather interior as a company car...untill a Journalist crashed it at a hillclimb event. Then I used a Yellow 4L. :D We also built up a 5L chim for the Australian GTP series, but sadly the major sponsor badly broke it on a Trackday test drive. Brief specs. 330+HP at the rear wheels. 860Kg Mid mounted alloy V8 config, with factory Bilsteins and cosworth brakes. There are definitely Hardcore Rwd options out there for enthusiasts. ;)

a friend of mine had one of those, i raced him on my motorbike and was staggered by the speed of it, on real roads the bike was only just keeping up (things get pretty bumpy when your going at speed) and after a while i lacked the bottle to keep up! scary fast machine, but they are a bugger to maintain...

OK since I saw only one other Mustang on these pages so I figured I'd post mine.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/wayland7/Pictures1_077.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v136/wayland7/Pictures1_071.jpg

Its an 1989 Mustang GT 5.0L, 5 speed, Procharger Supercharger currently at 9lbs of boost at the manifold (the 14lb pulley I have is just too much for the street :D ), 3 core Cartech Intercooler, 30lb injectors, Pro-M 75mm Mass Airflow, MAC 3in Dual Exhaust, gutted stock H-Pipe (don't tell the feds, although still passes IM-240 Enhanced Emissions Testing)

I've never run it at a track so I don't have any numbers to quote. I would estimate anywhere from 375-425HP depending on the boost I have it at. I rarely drive so it just sits in my garage. Anyone interested in purchasing it I will give you a killer deal. Just PM me.

My daily driver however is a 87 Volvo 740 Turbo. Not much to it other than I punched up the boost to 15lbs @ the manifold. It gets 20mpg so its my comuter car. I don't have any pics of it but trust me you aren't missing a thing :dninja:

Honestly, I wish gasoline here was $10 a gallon just to get SUVs off the road.

Does a blond REALLY need here 10mpg H2 to get to the mall and back?

I suppose it very well SOON be at $10 a gallon with this stupid country continually to sell SUVs as it does.

Hey Dicki, wanna see why our Diesel prices have gone so high?
There it is. Completly useless for offraoding yet I see one a month actually TOWING something. Pickup trucks rolling on tires able to support 20,000 lbs. The day this planet runs dry I'll be shooting all these stupid mofos with my rifle.

Oh, I can't really complain about gas guzzling because of my RX-7 since it can also get close to 10mpg at WOT, but then again I drive her maybe once a month, am not consistently pulling a 5000+ lb vehicle, and I've been actually able to get close to 30mpg on the hwy when I'm not boosting. I guess that is the key word. When I'm not boosting LOL fighting lil pesky critters like Nut_Bag :D

Hey, spotted one of those on the Roads in Brisbane Australia just the other day.. Custom numberplate reads "Canyonero" :D:D:D someone with far too much cash, and a sense of humour.

A while ago I had a guy race me up a twisty mountain road in something very similar... I dusted him off up this hill without much drama {860kg car} bit of drift on the tight bends, but he pushed very hard all the way, and as I slowed down near the crest of the hill which is a 90deg left he made one last enourmous effort to pass, so I pulled tight to the wall and let him through.... bugger having him behind me down the other side where the cops sit all day. So he hooks into this corner with about 40Kph too much, and gets so sideways, taking up all 3 lanes now lol. it was classic, and like in slow mo.... like drifting a barge lol. Amazingly with some herculean steering, he caught it and powered off down the hill. I pulled up at the next set of lights beside him, Old fella, near to heart attack. We laughed out asses off, and he was shaking like a leaf lol. man, he should have bought an RX.....:D

That is an exceedingly funny post man. I love the choice of cars. LMAO
I have owned a few of the first car, and driven a few of the second. I'm not sure either of them is a good first car :P

Heres and idea that nobody has probably mentioned yet. Find a tidy BMW 6cyl 3 series from around 1989-> with a thrashed or broken engine. Around here these options pop up for prices starting from $1000AUD. Basically, they are a good car, and don't wear out very easily. But some ppl buy them as tidy old bimmers for $7K then drive them into the ground with no maintainance. And when they get down the BMW shop for a quote on fixing the engine, they pull out.

My suggestion is get a Japanese import frontcut of something like an RB20, or even and RB25 nissan engine. Straight 6 natcho. and dropping that in complete with nissan gearbox. When I tally up the base project cost, its around $5-6KAUD. but that includes a freshen up of brakes, bushes and shocks. Some work done myself, but the big bits done by an engineer.

It would be a tidy comfortable ride, with good handling, and plenty of poke when provoked. Leave it looking stock and muffle it down, the cops won't even look at you. Your young, if you start building your funds, you should be able to put a nice car on the road by the time you can have a full licence.

Wise words down there as I'm someone who has owned 2 late eighties 3 series.. My first car was a 1986 325es.. ended up hitting a deer just before HS graduation and my passenger and I were unharmed. 5 months later a very good childhood friend of mine and ex-bandmate of Gabe's was killed in the same bend, so it is a safe car. Parts are expensive for these engines though, and they tend to fail in systems, so that can be good and bad. But once you get an engine sound, they drive forever. That straight-6 is a great engine and it does have power (3 tickets to prove it). I'd go for a manual model to cut out the expensive auto tranny and the worse mileage and responsiveness that comes with it. The E30 series trannies are a rock-solid Getrag box with a clutch that can easily handle a 60-70% increase in power if you're inclined to mod the engine (air box chip and exhaust are a good 60hp boost and a lightweight flywheel really helps responsiveness). All of the mid-late 80s models are well appoined as I've never seen a model that didnt have leather and the recaro designed racing style front seats. Mileage is generally good on these cars, especially manuals, as my dad was driving the 325i on his commutes which varied from 140-250 total miles/day.

The only bad thing that I might recommend you not buying one of these cars, especially for a first car is, THEY SUCK IN SNOW.

RWD, limited slip diff (i series) and a very light rear end make them almost useless in upstate ny (cant imagine Canada) snow and ice. I bought my 325i w/ blown engine and immaculate body paint and interior and fitted in a hi-flo ST engine from a well known rebuilder. This brought the standard 2.7 up to ~3.1 displacement w/overbored cyliners crazy valve springs & aggressively ground cam. I didnt buy a light flywheel but had mine put in fat camp to drop about 2.5lbs. That drop in weight was enough to dig me right into the snow or hitting a sneaky pothole or bump in the road could make the car leap if you weren't careful. They need some sandbags in the trunk and a good set of snow tires to be ready to roll SAFELY throughout the winter which another cost to be considered (and space to store them as you'll need another set of wheels really).

I love German cars though although the choice of RWD in super speeding snow-seeing Deutscheland is confusing to me still. They are so bad in snow that they should have included a set of snows with the car or some traction setting that they had in the heavier higher number series back then. It's one of the coolest and best first cars IMHO.

I still love these cars and would absolutely love to own an E30 series M3 if I had a house w/ space for multiple cars. I love the widebody look w/ the flared fenders and as all M3s can be highly competetive on the track stock.

That is an exceedingly funny post man. I love the choice of cars. LMAO

Well, I got a new ride awhile back and thought I'd share it here with everyone.
Its a 1970 Oldsmobile 442. Aspen green with a white vinyl top. The interior is white buckets, although was originally black bench seats. Has the BBO 455. Motor not #s matching but was pulled out of a '70 Toranado which ironically has a higher HP rating even though the engine internals are identical. So correct date codes. I'll be at the Concord Speedway in NC this weekend for the Car Show.

Someday, I hope to get myself a 70.5-73 Trans Am :)

Nut
09-10-2007, 08:30 PM
Ah, forgot. Backed up by a TH400 and 3.23's in the rear. Currently the engine is stock except for a set of headers. I do plan to put manifolds back on as the header gaskets like to blow out. Gotta get a few parts to get the AC running again and some floor insulation (someone removed it when they replaced the carpet and you can really feel the heat coming off the floor after extended driving.

When I first got her and drove her down from Ohio (although the car was originally from SC and only up in OH for one year) she got the best of 10mpg Highway. I knew the carb needed a rebuild. Now after rebuilding it and a little tuning she's averaging 12mpg City. Probably get 14-15 Highway but its been so darn hot down here this summer and w/o AC, I find I can only drive her sparingly during the day and evening. And with 10.5:1 compression, even running 93 Octane fuel and a hot day, it will have a little "run-on" when shut down. But it is a fun car to drive and gets tons of looks and thumbs up.

The other day someone at the gas station asked me what kind of car it was. I told him it was a Hybrid...It burns Gas and Rubber!

Very true indeed for the first couple years of the 442.
After 66 I believe the moniker stood for 4 barrel, 400 Ci Engine, Dual exhaust.
By 70 when the 455 was unleashed in the A Body, I don't think it mattered as the reputation was well known.

The only thing I like on hondas are the gearboxes. Nice and smooth but you can pull that off with a engine that outputs no torque. Good luck with the car anyway. I think you'll enjoy it.

As for the 60+ driver statement. I've seen grandmas in STi's and it scares me less than seeing a 17yr old with one. My friend's uncle is 70+ and can drive better and faster than me. He also used to race for Ferrari. :)
