Creative release a new set of drivers for Sound Blaster Audigy and Sound Blaster Live. It's a OEM drivers from Compaq and is for Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP.Be aware that this download is a 377 mb.The link is good and faster.I could get it with almost 1Mb of bandwidth. It be worths the efforts.I installed it on my Sound Blaster Platinum (not 5.1), KT7A-Raid and works like a charm.Creative make a good job on it.This is a Compaq Complete CD and if your machine it's not a Compaq, just extract the downloaded exe to any directory delete the CToem.cfg from "audiosetup directory" and you now have an official "Creative Full Version CD".

Included applications:

Creative AudioHQ v1.10.21
Creative Windows Diagnostic v2.00.16
Creative MiniDisc Center v1.01.14
Creative PlayCenter v3.01.57
Creative Recorder v2.00.24
Creative Surround Mixer v2.00.26
Creative TaskBar v1.00.26
Creative WaveStudio v4.21.07
Creative Remote Center v1.40.21 (Only applies to Platinum and Platinum eX users)

Here is the Link (http://www.warp2search.net/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=5474).

Edit: For those that are looking for the driver above, i suggest you to take a look Here (http://www.liquidninjas.com/bbs/showthread.php?s=&postid=29806#post29806), because this new one make your SBLive or Audigy to use the applications and the new features - if hardware supports them, that Audigy2 can give.

one advise only 4.6 power, uninstall totally your old creative sounds drivers before install this new one, and i don't know if you like the toolbar creative style, but if yes, probably you'll have to install it manually. It's easy, after extract the .exe file, go to the audio folder and look for toolbar, open it and do a setup on it.

Hey sptw,

Thanks. I have a bunch of creative things installed.. I'm not sure how to handle it.

1)play center
2)play center upgrade
3)nomad driver
4)winXP support
5)nomad detector

Which ones need to be uninstalled?

I said it to you, because i had a little problem with it.The new one made a little confusion with my old driver (it was nothing serious), but i'm on the old SB Platinum, not 5.1, maybe in your case it can perform in a good way.If i were you, i uninstall all the 5 softwares that you said you have on your PC (It seems that the drivers have a support for nomad, but i'm not sure). It's not necessary to unistall others from creative as a digital camera, only those related with sound drivers.Well, look ...try install them in this way, if you got a problem, uninstall them and install again.

I hope this help you 4.6 power, and let me know how it perform, but don't be afraid, they are good and don't forget to delete the CToem.cfg.

hmm, lots of sketchy comments about it. I wonder why these aren't on the soundblaster site?

sorry 4.6 Power for the sketchy comments about it.I will try to clarify you:My sound card is a Sound Blaster Platinum. This driver above is for audigy and sound blaster 5.1 cards only, but the SB 5.1 use a 10K1 emu chip, and some old SB Live cards use the same chipset too, then this driver have to works on this card too, and i can say you,it really works great. My previous driver(correct driver for SB Platinum) is that from Creative'site, that install a software for 2 or 4 speakers only. When i tried to install this new one, it only overwrited the old, then it asked me for the Win XP CD, to recover a certain file that i can't remember now. After that i couldn't use a "audioHQ" function.I conclude that it corrupted the driver.I uninstalled the driver and installed it again, and everything works fine now.Well..., about why these aren't on the soundblaster site, creative is selling the completely package, and of course almost 400 MB on that cd is a lot of bandwith. Here it is what Creative Declare (http://www.soundblaster.com/software/) about it:
"The promise of Live!Ware hasn’t gone anywhere. Creative is still committed to extending the value and life of your products through driver and software updates. What we are doing is modifying the program to make it more intuitive and efficient for a larger proportion of our user communities. The most obvious change you will see is in how we organize and distribute updates to you. Going forward, we will continue to provide driver updates and software patches via download as opposed to requiring end-users to download both the drivers and full version of all core applications at the same time. These smaller downloads are all you need to update the drivers and software you’ve already received with your product.
This adjustment eliminates the unnecessary long downloads and optimizes download performance for the actual updates that everyone really needs. We are not inventing a new concept here, but rather adopting a software distribution practice that has become the industry norm for software applications."
As you can see: "These smaller downloads are all you need to update the drivers and software you've received with your product", and what about the owners of the old SB Live?We know that live ware doesn't works with XP anymore, task bar, wave audio and others only works on win98 and winme. In this case Creative sell the CD.

I hope this clarify you now 4.6 power

Thanks SPTW!! They do work well. Thank goodness I have the soundmixer and recorder back! I thought they would be forever lost after I made the switch to winXP. One note though... if you use windows update, it will try and "update" the audio drivers... when in fact it will only corrupt it, and you will have to reinstall the downloaded drivers again to get it back.

I can't say I have 100% faith in these yet... since why would they bother to include a 'diagnostic' proggie for sound drivers  I don't see nvidia putting this out or ati. That little "fix" button makes me laugh. All in all this is auesome though... we get back all of the features we lost by going to XP. NICE FIND!! :D

Some more over here (http://www.warp2search.net/article.php?sid=5702&mode=thread&order=0) to help the cause ;)

Wow it works now!! amazing. Thanks for the help fellas :D Funny thing is you still need the *nomad2drivers.exe* in order for the usb to recognize the player... all the while that new play center file says it includes "nomad drivers" & "nomad detector". So now I'm using the new oem cd for the live, the new play centre3, and the old year 2000 nomad driver. lol lol whatever as long as it works!

Hi Dissolved,

Welcome to the board :)

Try again Dissolved.Since yesterday Warp2Search and many other sites in the xxx.xx.233.xx range of IP-Adresses heavly hit by a massive DoS Attack and therefor a lot of ISP´s decided to shut down this specific adress range to prevent heavy bandwith usage. The link is working again now.
If you can't, due any other reason, let me know and i'll tell you another way to get it.

regards,

sptw
