Does anyone else have issues with networking on Server 2003? After boot up, trying to open IExplorer or something takes forever, maybe upwards of a minute. Setting Network to display in the tasktray, I see the NIC doesnt even come online until much after the PC boots up. Is this a normal function? Can it be fixed? Its not a huge issue, but seems kind of annoying.

use bootvis or chk the event logs for reasons for delay.
did you make it a PDC or BDC? or just join a workgroup?
it may be looking for a logon server only you can tell me ;)

Hey Player,
I just installed that OS yesterday, and i had a network card that connected to my laptop. It didnt have a ip assigned to it so i thought that i would try to discover it, but the laptop wasnt a server so it would get nothing. After about 15 minutes of waiting through slow menus, i finnaly changed it, rebooted, and walah. Back to speed!

Kind of along the same lines, are you using DHCP? or assigned IPs

I assaigned mine. Although i believe it uses DHCP as a default.

I use DHCP, which may be the cause of slowness. Im sure that I could enter a static IP and it might fix the problem, but I kind of want to use DHCP.
Why it takes so long versus old Win2K/XP is beyond me though.
