I'm doing a full brake job on my mom's Plymouth Caravan. I noticed during my inspection of the brakes that the drivers side inner CV protective boot is torn. How much trouble is it to replace that? I'm picking up the parts now and will be back to check on this thread.
Thanks.

The split boots can work but they're kinda sucky. The eaisest is to just replace the alxe but it's probally not cheap.

does it click on hard turns? if not....
if you are mechanically inclined, remove the 23mm? nut that holds the cv joint, loosten up the lower ball joint, drop the controll arm, then GENTLY tap the cv joint out of the spindle, cut off the old boot and 2 metal bands, and while holding the axle towards the trans, keep the cv joint straight and tap it from behind and it should pop off.
use about a can of brakekleen to remove all the old grease you can soak it in kerosene or gas if you want. when clean and shiney again, dry it with compressed air or more brakekleen and time. then tear off the cornewr of the new grease bag, insert it where the shaft would go in the rear and squeeze the bag til the grease is oozing out where the balls are, then slide the new boot on the shaft being careful of the "c" clip in the groove at the end of the axle, fill the boot with the remaining greasae then centering it on the shft paying heed to the c clip again, tap it on until it thunks in and cannot be pulled off easily. unless you have rented the tool, use a pair of dikes to tighten the new band clamps by pinching the recessed dimples on the side of the "nut?" or you can use really good zip ties in emergency, hose clamps are way too fat at the screw and will hit the spindle.
center the cv joint back in the spindle and put the ball joint back in, tighten and tighten the spindle nut to approx 90 ft lbs (f'n tight) reinstall the castelated washer and cotter pin and put the wheel back on and test driving making lots of turns and listen for noise.
all done! should take an hour or less, i have done them in 15 minutes:)

Dude! Thanks for the awesome instructions...
No clicking on turns. The boot tear is only minor but grease was slowly slinging out.
I dislodged it at the tear and packed some fresh grease in then zip tied it up for now. (was running out of daylight)
I figure this gives me a week or two to tackle the cv joint without worrying about it failing first.
Brakes have new pads and shoes at all corners now but I had to throw in two new rear wheel cylinders. Both were leaking.
Vehicle has 40K miles.
Again THANKS :D
