just had mine go totally south on me
after about an hour of messing with scan disk, and the windows 98setup scan disk i managed to fluke it back into windows
anyone know of any FAT repair programs, or something so thati can back it up better and restore if needs be???

I think PQDI can repair FAT Tables.

try fdisk /mbr

Hi MrP,
PQDI is Power Quest Drive Image software. If has FAT table repair capabilities.
Tom is right, I did not even think of fdisk /mbr.....Duh!!

Well...... the easy way is using the Fdisk/MBR Dos command, but it can also cause problems for some dual-boot programs and disks with more than four partitions.Power Quest and Norton disk doctor work good too.Remember that once the fat is corrupted your files start to be marked as free space. This means that they disappear or become corrupted. Their space is available to overwrite and if it looses the information about enough files you will need to Fdisk, and format your hard drive again.
