Hi Chaps,
My Linksys BEFSR41 router has decided it does not want to work anymore ..... All three lights stay on above the WAN markings ... I read the manual and it tells me to re-flash the firmware if I can (but it won't let me) and if this fails to send it back to Linksys ..... Can shed any light on the problem for me.

have you tried holding in the reset button for a minute?

also if you have a meter, check the voltage from the transformer:)

Yeah, sometimes the flash goes on those Linksys pieces of crap. I used to like them too.

Ive had a similar model to your 41 (the befsx41 I beleive) and it was CRAP. I dont know what they are doing these days. Ive been buying the higher-end Netgears lately and they are great. No more Dlink or Linksys for me.

RMA is your best bet. I wouldnt even try to fix it this time. I had to RMA two of those things for similar problems. PS, the love being on UPSs.

Hi Player,
If I do have to get a new Router which Netgear one would you recommend? It only has to be basic as I only use it for connecting two machines through my cable modem

the RP614 is their latest little model. Probbaly get it for sub $50 USD.

If your willing to spend a little more, Id get the FR114P. It has beefier security, and a print server (handy).

If you want the best security, get the FVS318. I use this a couple places for hosting websites and its GREAT!

Make sure that you get something with SPI protection as well as VPN (if you may want this some day).
