Quite frankly I hate THG with a passion.
Every article on that site has a condescending tone....I always get the feeling of being "talked down to" whenever I read something from them.
I tell ya, I'm just not sure where I would be without Tom and Company. Thank god he and his crew have taken on the massive beast of water cooling and made it possible for even a simpleton like me to even consider it.
Heck, if THG says it's now okay to water cool...it must be:)
Thanks Tom:rolleyes:
(did I mention how much I hate that site)

Hmm... I didn't read the article above yet but I haven't noticed this tone... I have noticed though that Tom's Hardware just isn't as [H] as most other OC'ing sites, in fact it's Limpware by comparison. ;) He does a decent job with the roadmaps I must admit, but I really haven't visited his site for quite some time.

I don't want to the thread to go too far off topic, but I must say that THG used to be a good site a long time ago. Now it's nothing but garbage.
Tom and Company never endorsed the AMD platform, even during AMD's recent heyday from 1999 to 2001, when it was clear AMD was outperforming Intel on every front. It became crystal clear to me when THG released that riduculous CPU overheating video that Intel was buttering Tom's bred all the way.
Over the last 2 years, Tom and Company masked their bias behind "condenscending tones" of suggestion...such as..."AMD...sure you can get more performance...but let me tell you, that AMD stuff is really just for the gamers and the losers...that's not really what a sophisticated user like you should choose" and "yeah, the Intel might be twice as expensive and performance sucks relative to AMD, but...for those in the know...Intel is still the way to go. You know that internal temp diode is really quite important."
It has nothing to do with AMD vs. Intel either...I couldn't care less. I was an Intel user just a few short years ago, and I may be again soon too if the P4 keeps rocking along so well. Bottom line, I'm sour on THG because they sold out. They sold out thier readers and didn't even bother to try to hide thier bias. What a slap in the face.
(and did I mention I hate that site?)

Toms certainly is pompus. I dont use them for any sort of overclocking information. The only thing useful like I got there was the article on how to hack the Ultra66 to become a FastTrack 66. Of course, I asked them a question, and they never even responded.
Their video editing info is pretty good. They have some good comparisons and some interesting things like how to hack MP3 players and such once in a while. But, in terms of other things...they dont really cover all the bases (they hardly ever review abit boards).
Well, there are certainly better sites for information :)

Well I suppose I wouldn't have such a bad opinion of the THG site if I never visited there eh? So it's obvious I've peeked in from time to time. Although it pains me to admit it, there are a few good articles over there...as long as you know you need to sift through the BS to find them. One of the things I appreciate over there is the ability to get the objective facts such as mobo specs. It's nice when you have 18 KT333 mobos lined up on a chart with all the specs for easy reference. That is the good stuff. As long as I stop at that point and ignore the writers subjective conclusions all is well.
Gosh...re reading my rant above tells me someone must have pissed in my cherios today. Sheeze:o
