Well i found this new and exciting place. And i already have to questions!
Should i get a new board w/ddr?
Or should i just get a new CPU?
Since i'am an Aopen fan i checked out there new ddr 333 board (Ak 77 Pro) sellin for about 129USD.
What would you guys suggest for 129 and under? What about a Soyo SY-K7V also?
I looked at a 1.4gig Athlon AYHJA Stepping on ebay for under 80USD. I want to be able to get 1.6Ghz or higher.
What should i do? Help me out!!

I dont much like Aopen, and Soyo is so-so, Ive used a few of their boards and either had good luck or bad. You can get the Abit KR7A-133 for under $90 now...that would be my choice.
If your getting a CPU, I wouldnt get anythign less than an Athlon XP. :)

WesM63:
Welcome aboard M8! Glad you found us:)
As far as recommendations are concerned, that would be up to the amount you want to spend.
But, even so, if I were going to do a modest upgrade now from your current system in your Sig, I would be inclined to get a CPU, mobo, and memory combo. Remember You won't be going to a DDR mobo without new DDR memory.
I beleive for a limited budget of about $275, you can land an XP processor, DDR mobo, and some DDR memory. You can easily overclock a $95 1800 XP (1.533ghz) to about 1700mhz with basic air cooling as long as the mobo has Vcore adjustability. And you can get a good DDR mobo fairly in expensively now.
The key is to upgrade all the paths which would be bottlenecks in a cost beneficial way. XP Processors and DDR really do go very well togther. So swing it if you can budget it.

Player0,
Have you heard anything or tried the Epox EP-8KHA+?
I heard it was an overclockers dream! Any info on it?

That board comes recommended by many many people. Its a good choice too :) I've never used it personally though. But definately not a purchase to be afraid of :)

i've heard excellent things about that board too, it's well used in the world of overclocking :)
they are excellent clockers, until you get an FF thats is :D but my money would go on a KT333 solution if i was upgrading right now :)

You want the fastest Socket A mobo available then you need the Abit KX7-333. It is the fastest without a doubt.

OPP,
Glad to see you here my friend:) We are honored and delighted. I hope you can continue to pop in from time to time. We are hoping to make this a truly great overclockers website.
BTW, great recommendation really on the mobo. If WesM63 can swing the cash, it is surely a great mobo. My KX7 has been flying fast and smooth. I will have a review of it posted here at LiquidNinjas by tonight or tomorrow at the lastest. Just finishing up the long term stability testing.

Either one would be a fine choice. I beleive these two are the best KT333 mobos out there right now.
