I've got the opportunity to pick up some parts at a pretty good price and was considering taking on another box project.

I've read that the 462+T is a pretty good system for extreme cooling, despite the high (thus noisy) airflow requirements. Right now I dont have the $$ for a liquid setup and I have a power supply capable of powering the pelt.

The one thing I'm concerned about is the tornado noise. Is there a less noisy fan than this that can do swiftechs reccomended 80cfm? I know papst must have one, but I have yet to find Would using something like akasa paxmate and a set of those rubber fan silencers, grommets, and one of those duct mods help out?

I was considering running 2 fans through one of those washer/dryer duct mods so that I force more cooler outside air over the heatsink instead of recycling the pelt heated air. I was hoping that I could possibly run the tornado @ lower rpms this way. I was thinking of mounting a 92mm zalman fan at the opposite end of the duct to actively force cooler outside air down the duct.

Are any of you guys running an air cooled pelt at all?

As always your input is greatly appreciated.

I'd say if you want a peltier, get water first. As you mentioned all it does is dump heated air in the case, and it's not really efficient. There is no significantly quieter fan you could use, and case-silencing products only stop vibrations not the whirr of fan moters and whooshing air.

do you think I could modify my hydrocool setup by adding my coldplate and 130W pelt and possibly using a higher flow 120mm in the cooling unit?

If you are going for a really extreme overclock on the XP, i dont think a 130w pelt. will be enough.

the 462+ T comes with a 226W pelt :O so there
with the pelt, the com idles at 9 deg celcius, is that enough for a overclock?

9C is a killer temp for an overclock
