Welcome to LiquidNinjas.:D
That is pretty hot even for a raptor!
However, a hdd fan is a small investment so I don't see why not get a fan for it.
edit* make sure your case has good airflow and probably more of your specs will help a lot of people here on what advice to give.

Clarification: I did not mention that his hdd was a raptor cause he did not mention it but I only said that even a raptor would not run that hot! Clarified.

Actually i was inquiring about Raptor drive's normal temps..I don't have an external thermometer so i can't check my Raptor drive's temp... 100 degrees sounds high...

true.
Brad, to protect your investments. you would probably be interested in providing better airflow and better cooling for you hdd;)
Better start now cause 100'c is very very hot! (heck even your cpu cant withstand that temp)
My Maxtor 7200rpm with a small hdd fan runs at 31-40'c according to speedfan. (never more than 45)
edit*notor, your ava aint moving. game over?

i hav a 2.4ghz

and me hdd is SAMSUNG SV0602H (58.7GB)
and i hav 1 fan blowing from the back of the case running at 1500rpm and a tube from that running to over my heatsink do u reckon i would need another acse fan or would that be enough airflow

Hi brad13,
Welcome to the board :)
What degrees are you talking about.Fº or Cº.If it is Fahrenheit it corresponds a 53º in a Celsius scale, and this is normal.
Well.... Hard disk drives are designed to operate within a per-defined environment of temperature, that use to be between 5º-60º celsius.Any numbers above that can be dangerous to the hard disk.It is impossible to run a hard disk with 127º celsius in a reliable condition, and to tell you the truth almost impossible to run the HD within this temp.It generates a lot of the heat, expand the platters, and in this situation performance and reliability are likely to deteriorate.Since there's no mention from your part with a spontaneous reboot, lost datas, and strange noises, i'm forced to believe that probably speed fan are reading it in the wrong way, or like i said before, it is a Fahrenheit scale reading.
Did you try to touch the drive after playing a game?
Edit: There is a breather hole (filter) in the top of a hard disk case. It's necessary for air circulation and air filtration and in order to equalize any air pressure differential inside the case.Make sure that this breather hole is not closed or sealed.

well thanks but i think it is speedfan problem i looked at it and it said it was 238 celius and that was wen i had a fan on it and the cpu temp went down to 29degrees and the hdd temp went up then i felt the hdd and it was freezing cold so i think it is speed fan not telling me the real temp
then i found another hdd temperature program and i found HDDTemperature and i ran it and it said my hdd was 31 degrees celcius when idling
