sound distortion

Hey guys I was hoping you could help me out with my new sound card.

I purchased the Aopen AW850 sound card. Not the greatest but was suppose to be a good card. Anyways I installed it everything work great, but when I trying playing Halo the sound gets VERY distorted and gets really chop and also slows down my comp. I have downloaded all of their latest drivers and even contacted them to download another driver from another site. None of them have helped.

So I come to you guys to see if you guys will know. Im thinking I just screwed myself over and should have gone with CL.

Might be the PCI slot. Is the IRQ sharing with anything else?

What OS? What motherboard? What else is in the system?

I dont have any other PCI cards hooked up to my comp. I just have my 9600 pro in the AGP slot. 512 kingston ram 2700, Shuttle AN35 Ultra mobo, Athlon XP 2500+ OCed to 2.15ghz with SLK 900A and Tornado fan. 2000 Pro is the OS. I think I am just going to go out and buy a Creatative Labs card, probably less trouble.
