Well it looks as if the LAN party is a go at my house for the 29th of November 2003.
for directions, please post here and i will PM or e-mail (your choice) directions to my house.
to give some reference, I'm about 10 minutes or less from the Essex toll plaza on the N.J. Garden State Parkway (EXIT 150).

If you need accomidations for the night, i have 2 pullout sofabeds.
I also have 2 daughters and own 2 guns so keep that in mind ;)

I've had dibs on they little one for the longest so after you go through Synth you have to go through me. ;) Synth has the whimpy guns, I have the big bore ones. :2guns:

I can't offer lodging but I can take care of some food and take beer/liquor orders. If you don't want to bring your own I normally get discounts at the store. Tell me what you want and I can pass the savings on to you. ;)

Tell ya what, on the day of the LAN I will post the IP and port# of the game server(s) and will post what current games are playing, we might server 2-3 games at once and will be posted under this sticky.
Fair enough???

only requirement is that you have "[LN]" in your player name so i know you are referred from this site and will be accepted.
any password needed will also be posted here:)
keep in mind my internet is 1500/136 so any lag on your end is unfortunatly your problem as I will not be able to restart or reboot the game server(s).

O.K. now I'm getting psyched:D

Unreal is good. Tron MP kind of sucks, so does Wolfenstien.

Jedi Outcast would be good. Halo PC would be cool too. Maybe SoF2?

fara: i've just started my own fireworks company over here in england (we have some FUNNY fireworks for bonfire night :D) and i read up on the american fireworks laws... they are stricter than your gun laws! are you lot insane? apparently fireworks are banned cos they are dangerous! LOL

Does anyone have any idea how much booze i can bring into the country?

Generally, one liter per person may be entered into the U.S. duty-free by travelers who are 21 or older, although travelers coming from the U.S. Virgin Islands or other Caribbean countries are entitled to more. See our publication, "Know Before You Go" for additional information. Additional quantities may be entered, although they will be subject to duty and IRS taxes. Duty is calculated on the alcohol content of such beverages, very low for wine and beer, higher for spirits.

It is not legal for travelers under the age of 21 to import alcohol - even as a gift.

The total amount of alcohol you may enter the country with is primarily determined by the laws of the state where you will arrive back into the U.S. Each state's ABC board (or equivalent ) sets the amount of alcohol a person may bring into the state without a license or permit from that state. Travelers must check with the appropriate state ABC board, as the amounts vary from state to state. We regret that we are unable to provide links to this information, but we are unaware of a single web site that provides a portal to each state's beverage control authority, and CBP staff is not able to maintain 50 links for this purpose.

There is no federal limit on the amount of alcohol a traveler may import into the U.S. for personal use, however, large quantities might raise the suspicion that the importation is for commercial purposes, and a CBP inspector could require the importer to obtain an ATF import license (which is required for all commercial importations) before releasing it. also to make a public announcement about the lan party....
ALL procedes (except -+30.00 for a new 1/2" waterpump) from the mandatorily voluntary donations will go directly to Player0 for the continued support of LN.
I don't want to make money off of this party, I just want my 2 1/2 year old son to still be able to surf LN threads when he grows up.
yeah it sounds kind of mushy, but seriously I think LN is worth sqabbling with my wife over me contributing Admin dues to help offset the costs of this site.

Sponsorship has its privileges as well, as a handfull of us already know.
also anyone else who is coming that wishes to sell extra hardware at the party to other members is encouraged. all i ask is that a small percentage of the sale be used to support LN as well:)

TKC went to a Lan party this weekend, He took several Aquagold blocks to give away etc. What really blew me away was that one guy was a Gm of a theater and they got a private screening of a certain new movie – what LUCK! :eek:

I think I may have my ride, although a babysitter for that morning, there's a stretch. I still don't have ANY games on my system, so I fear a repeat of the first LAN I was at, at least for me. If no one has signed up for bringing the GameCube yet, let me be the first. I have four controllers, although 3 of them have dust and have not been used in quite some time.

ok, now i'm frilling pissed, i DMZ'd my server so we all can check connectability before the event and within an hour Norton corporate cought 2 viruses, and both my aol screennames were "signed on at another location" fuggers!!!!!

i may have to try port fowarding instead so the east pond'ers and west coast members can party on my lan with us.

man that was dissapointing :(

any suggestions???

Synth, The only thing I can really suggest is try port forwarding, other than that I dunno bro.

Does it matter if the server is dmz'd or not. I think you should be able to run the server without configuring anything really. But then again i don't really know, never done a lan and www game.:confused:

regarding UT2003, I think everyone should also install the Epic Bonus Pack, and the Digital Extremes Bonus pack (both found right on the Unreal2003 download page). They are very standard mods (i dont want to get in to huge piles of other maps) and should increase the variety a bit.

yesssir! however, for 39.95 i now have halflife, team fortress classic, platinum opposing force, counterstrike and blueshift.

seemed like a good deal and i'm d/loading as we speak the UT@2003 dedicated server version for free through ut2003.com!
i'm also trying to d/l all the patches and expansion sets that are free from the site for easy loading at the lan ;)

Hey guys, I won't be able to make the journey from Detroit, but if you can get the port forwarding to work, I'd love to join you guys over the net.

I'm not sure what your router set up is Synth, but you likely will not be able to use DHCP if you want to port forward. That means specific IPs for servers and everyone else.

If you need a hand in this let me know. I've managed to run a few small LAN gatherings here at my place ( 5 players) while allowing for 4 others to access via the net. It worked out okay actually.

Anyway, post the info when you know and I'll try to log on :)

LN LAN 03 Ver2 was a blast.

It was Awesome, not tooo much can beat the gathering of friends in a relaxed atmosphere, Wacky's parents were a pisser, to drive 4+ hours so their son can play video games is outstanding.

Dicki, I'm still extatic you made it to my house from across the globe to play and visit with us, and those brews were very interesting;)

My wife wants the tables gone however if I could keep that thought at bay for 3 months, I would love to do it again!!!

Fara and I were still at it at 3:30am and after i fragged him to bits over and over;) we called it a day.

My heartfelt thanks goes to all whom either participated or supported round 3 of LN Lan III.

I could go on and on but I'll stop for now, I just want to thank everyone again and I hope it was as great for you as it was for me!

That was the best time that I have had in a long time. I can't remember the last time that I was so happy, and I'm still happy.
It was great to meet all of you, I just wish I had spoke more.

Steve, thank you for your hospitality, and your basement, you made me feel right at home.

The food was great, I'm not sure who fixed what, but it was great, thank you.

We had some extra colorful background music playing when that group picture was taken.:P

It was a great learning experience as well, I found out that you can turn off a computer just by pulling out the RAM.;) :D

I had a ball, I can't wait until the next lan.

OMG I almost forgot about that!!! thats why we were all flushed in the face from laughing so hard!!!

Edit>BTW, my server wasnt porked, somehow installing a different vid card made the boot priority change to a non OS drive!
It's happily chugging along and as soon as i can get a UT server online I'll post the IP ;)

Yeah, meeting Dicki was a riot too. I think he put all us American blokes to shame in a very Hugh Grant manner with that accent of his ;) Girls dig the accent lol. im dead serious about getting upwards to the UK soon. Meet up with the PCLincs guys :) Maybe visit some of the P0 museum making the world tour at the finer establishments near you.

Im glad the Mac Salad was a hit. My 'zestier' version lol. Unfortunately my lasagna just wouldnt stay warm. It was good for about 10 minutes lol. Just more left overs for me. It gets better with age. The brisket was good as ever, and I cant get mine to come out like that and it peeves me ;) But my fav was the sausages. I dont know what kind they were but damn! I didnt even need mustard.

The only downside was driving through NJ. What a hellish system of road!!! Im driving down lanes that seem to disappear in to thin air without any road sign anywhere. I half expected the middle lane to abruptly end in to a brick wall or grassy meadow in a split second. Nothing like 14 hours of gaming to really screw up your eyes ;)

Actually if anyones interested we at Data Eclipse (my work) is having a lan party on December 13th. See HERE (http://www.dataeclipse.com/lanparty/) for more details. We usually have a good turnout 50ppl or so. I'll even see to it any LN members get in free.

Well i'm back in the good ol' UK and i want to thank you all for such a great time :) even my GF enjoyed herself and she hates computers!

wacky: i'm quite scared that the basement made you feel "at home" there could have been *anything* hiding in that junk!

synth / fara: how were the brews? i tried to pick a good cross section... i have to thank fara for introducing me to drinkable american beer, i thought i was going to go mad drinking that sweet fizzy gnats piss you call budweiser...

weirdly there was only one water cooled computer in the whole place but P0's lian li case looks stunning the cut outs look so good in real life

synth: i've just seen how much you speant setting things up! do you want me to sling a few dollars in your direction?
