if you bought a trans am.. would you go for the 87-89 look or the ~2000 new look? i like them both but it is hard to decide which i will buy. i have about a year and a half to 2 years to buy it and one of the big drawbacks of getting the 2000 is cuz alot more money.. but in 2 years it will be cheap so i dont know.
also what do u ppl think about the honda cbr 929

:beerm8s: Welcome d.block :beerm8s:
My choice would be 87-89. I like the older body styles anyway. I'd look for a late 70's one w/ a 350+ but it will probally need a lot of work.

hey d.block
I don't know the first thing about Trans Ams.....but I know its hard to find fault with the CBR. Although just about all the current big bikes are awesome.

I would go with any 97+ trans am. Main reason being they have the LS1 engine in them. Low 13s to high 12s stock. Throw in about 1k and you got low 12s. Awesome car.

As far as bikes I'm a ducati guy.. Dont get on bikes much after my accident tho..
One word I can say about japanese bikes: HAYABUSA no test rider has had the guts to take it to top speed. So far it only has a theoretical top speed, no realized number yet.

Ok, 97 Trans Am had the LT1 engine in it. The 98+ models had the LS1, if you are going to get a 98+ T/A look for a Firehawk, my best friend has Number 155 of the 2001 Hawks, BADASS. Runs Z06 Times with long tube headers and an intake. Kicks normal vettes ***. Picks on Porsche Turbos. GET A BLACK ONE if posiible, they are one INTIMIDATING car.

Do whatever you gotta do to get your hands on an LS1 powered trans am/z28 with a T56 trans. You won't regret it, Do whatever ya got to do to get one. Give the owner a BJ or something, whatever it takes!!! Realistically though if you can't afford a 98+ LS1 then go for a 95-97 LT1 as a second choice. Stay away from 1993 and 1994 LT1s, while not terrible cars they have their quirks that most owners tend to voice quite frequently, most notibly:
Both 93,94 don't have a vacuum hookup for the distributor to remove moisture buildup in the optispark distributor. A $500 assembly and a major major PITA to replace. Its in the front of the car behind the water pump. Also from what ive heard from f-body owners is that its impossible to remove without removing the engine first!!! Also heard that about changing spark plugs on LT1 fbodies but not so sure about that...
If you take the auto-trans route the 1993 uses the 700-R4 mechanical trans as opposed to the 4L60E eletronic. Both are mechanically similiar to my knowledge but the 4L60E has the virtue of being able to change the shiftpoints through the computer rather then installing a shift kit.
Anyway theres a ton more, if you havent check out some TA/Z28 forums. Whatever ya end up buying check out these programs to monitor/modify the PCM:
