More Car Problems

My 1994 Honda Accord is making a bad noise now. I was trying to teach the wife to drive stick today, and she was beating the crap out of the clutch. Well, it started making the noise. Basically, when you press the clutch down to the floor, it makes a grinding poppling noise. Usually 2-3 good loud pops as you push it down.

The clutch engages fine. It doesnt make any noise if the clutch is engaged, disengaged, or slipping, just when the clutch pedal moves.

Is this bad?

I'm reading that the noise is the release bearing. And that the clutch is only good for about 90K miles.

Just friggin figgures. What I need to know is...how long can I drive like this before I need to fix the clutch? Its too expensive for me to fix right now.

The worst that could happen is the bearing dies and the clutch, engages stupid... breaking the fingers and possible hurting the fork. (the fork is really the only worry. I think that the noise would get MUCH louder before you had to worry about it... Like scarey loud. So just be gentle on it untill you have a chance to pop it apart.

the clucth life should be measured in hours @ slippage % vs. the mileage of the car. Its bad when it cant hold back the motor under full throttle in 5th gear :)
If you cruse the freeway nonstop it will technically never wear out if you never stop.
