I came home to a box from Newegg and started gigling like a schoolgirl.
Unfoutunely I'm not so happy now. When I removed the power cable from the ASUS I noticed that the 2nd +5VDC connector was a little browner that it should be. I figured it happened when I caught my floppy drive on fire. Now I'm instaling XP with just my Radeon, CD and 2x 15 gig maxtors that I want to use on RAID0. I press f6 get to the insert disk screen and get "no realvent hardware found on disk" Now I'm spitting fire. I even tried to use my disk from my KT7 and I got as far as installing the drivers and letting XP do what it had to do but it can't find the drives when it wants to install.
I'm thinking it doesn't like my disks. I pulled them off my RAID on the KT7. Maybe there is something left over because it won't let me delete the RAID. It still sees the old array from the KT7. Hmmm.....
Anyone.

Hi Fara,
I think you want to use F5.
F6 is for new hardware, not software for RAID.
I could be wrong, I have been a couple times in my life.
Take care.........

I won't say no Lee but I tried everything I could think of I will go back and try. As I type I'm on it now. All I did was plug in my 40g that has my OS install on it and after it went nuts finding drivers it's working. I want to do a clean install of XP on my RAID like I had in my KT7 but it's being difficult. Also, can someone tell me where the clock chip is on the KX7? I put a passive heatsink on my A7V and it got so hot I couldn't touch it for more than 2-3 seconds.
Someone out there has to be running XP on the RAID on a KX7. Any hints??
Thanks.

Hi Fara,
Looks like you are missing the "[/url]" off the end of your SETI sig.
Can't hep ya on the RAID tho.
Take care..........
EDIT: Never mind, it is there now.
I see you are having the same problem that I am having with the garbage on the end of the name.

I went back and checked the Seti and noticed it. Thanks.
Would it be possible to ghost an image to the RAID and have it work? I remember seeing that on a KT7 setup somewhere.
Oh again, Cheers on the 5000 mark. I'll be happy when I hit 500.
I think Player0 did that in a month.

Hi Fara,
Don't know if it takes a special procedure or not.
I suppose if the RAID is setup, it would be like restoring the image to an existing array.
Should work OK.
Take care.......

Hey Fara,
Did you remember to enable the highpoint contoller in the bios?
Are you using the Highpoint 2.31 drivers on the floppy? You need the 2.31 driver for support of your Highpoint 372 controller. The old drivers are for the Highpoint 370.

I enabled it in the bios, built the array, pressed f6 when it said scsi/ other HW in XP setup. When it got to insert disk from manufacturer I put the disk that came with the KX7 an it said there was no relevent information on disk. It won't even let me choose between 98/2000/XP like I'm used to seeing.
For some reason sandra mem marks are piss poor but I'm looking into that right now.

Maybe the disk that came with the mobo is fubar. Try downloading the driver from Paul's FAQ and using your own disk. Use the 2.31 driver.
Also, set you memory timings if you haven't.
The most aggressive is CAS 2 4way 2,5,2, 2T
You surely want to run CAS 2 and 4 way no matter what. And depending on your RAM the 2,5,2. The dram command can be at 1t at low fsb speeds, but it will surely limit you on the high end. I change to 2T at about 185fsb.
What memory are you using?

I got a 256 of XMS3000 so it should handle some abuse. I'm going to try to ghost a copy of XP on to the RAID and see if that works.
Man it was so easy on my KT7 :(

Fara,
What memory settings are you using?
What FSB is this at?
Are you using a fairly updated sandra version?

Sandra 2002 sp1
fsb 133
I have to check the mem settings. I think I set it to what you posted eailer.
I'm going to pull the RAID drivers off the net and see if they work.

One problem. Whatever drivers I put on the disk I think XP setup looks for oemsetup.txt for instructions first. That is where I think it's porked.
I don't know I'm grasping at straws now. If someone has a known working floppy with the drivers could you send to farabomb@liquidninjas.com
Thanks

Hi Farabomb,
Yeah its the oemsetup.txt that is giving you all the probs on the Asus mobo I had similar probs you have to copy the promise drivers for XP etc onto a floppy disk and insert that .... where you want to INSERT it is another matter :D

Thanks Mike.
It's funny that you say that ben. I have a A7V-266E that wanted no part of the RAID. Last night when I was fighting it I got the disk from my KT7 to read but it still went :321:

Mike, you rock :metal: :slayer:
That did the trick. I'm up and running on a fresh install of XP.
Now why doesn't ABIT ship the board with that disk

Great News my friend:D Im glad I could help.
You really should have had a floppy in your mobo box...hmmm.
But, you're up and running and that's what counts.
Enjoy your new system:D:D:D

Oh, I had the floppy just when I put it in I got "contains no relavent driver information"
I upziped the file you sent, put it on a floppy and away I went. It was the same as when I set up my KT7R, smooth as silk.
Now I have to get the FSB up :D

Send it ben. I'd be quite pissed if it was just bad drivers. I never was able to set up the raid on my A7V. Yet my friend has the same board (we bought them at the same time) and he got his to work.

OK they have been sent :)
Just unzip and copy all the individual folders onto a clean floppy (I have just tested them and they work)..... silly question but you have moved the onboard jumper to the Raid position?
Also what Bios are you using?
