Ive made the ranking adjustments. I meant to do that a while ago. The changes will show up on the next stats update.

Yeah, the static image caching, Im working on that one. Not only will it allow more usage of the sigs program, but god willing, it will reduce some of my server load.

If anyone wants to help beta test static images, let me know.

Yeah, I know they seperate google out, im just not sure why. They seem like a team. The aggregate, yeah I can understand that one. Well, whatever works hehe. Its just a -2 in my book.

It *should* reduce server load but, it adds another processing script to the heap. Its still going to process the same amounts of thing. If PHP/Apache/SQL are caching DCS properly, then it shouldnt make much of a performance difference. With limited ram though, and the server doing other things, it might give a performance boost. Thinking on it some, its not always cut and dry, and DCS may get its own server anyway. Caching a lot to disk really bothers me, the disks are very overworked as they are. Plus I have problems with corruption.

There are ways to get around the dynamic image thing without using static images. I could use mod_rewrite and accomplish the same thing without caching images.

It may be faster to generate these images dynamically since a lot of data can be stored in system ram. The caching will likely lead to more disk reads which are just going to slow everything down. I really need to benchmark some things.

Im not sure why any site would disable dynamic images if they allow static images. Theres no extra secuirty risk.

Theres a function for that for the skin admins, but not one for regular users yet. No one has really asked for it. Its something easy enough to do, although a lot of people really want to keep their personal skins personal :)
