So I come to find out that a friend of mine builds computers about 1 a year for himself & does it for a lil cash when people come to him to build one. Now being of the same rate (job) as him I think “ya know, it’s prolly not that hard to build one if he’s doin it.” So I ask him where he gets all his stuff. He tells me it’s a combination of a couple of things. He tells me the little things like cables, power supplies, towers & drives he buys from the local PC shop near the mall & for cards & cpu’s he goes to tigerdirect.com. NEAT I say NEAT! So I go online & look at tigerdirect. It has a flashy website & all the bells & whistles I need for a rockin computer. I also look up liquid cooling. Hey, if you’re gona do something, why not be different? From tigerdirect I ordered a DVD rom & burner, a power supply and wireless networking set up for my desktops & laptop. Dopey me, I didn’t think of all of these things at once I thought of them over 3 days. Ah well, so shipping is a little expensive, let it be a lesson! I placed my original orders on august 22. here’s where I have my beef with tigerdirect. I got my confirmation letters saying that the order has been placed, here’s your invoice number. I get an email ONE WEEK later saying that I need to call them, there’s an issue with my order. This sent me over the edge, the fact that no one said anything to me for a WEEK! My shipping and billing addresses are the same so I think to myself, what could be the issue? So I call the number they gave me. It was a 1800 number but it does me no good here in Spain. I talk to the guy at aprox 0630, after all it’s 24 hour a day customer care. After being on hold for about 45 mins (that’s about $11.50 of phone time =)“I’m sorry sir, I cant help you, I only do orders & Tec support. If you call our credit card department at 8 am est in about an hour and a half they can help you with your issue.” So now I’m thinking my CC got rejected. So I check my accounts online as I wait for them to open. My bank says I got the cash so wth? It’s now 0800 est & this situation needs to be resolved. I call the credit line’s number & guess what? I’m on hold again. I guess other people are waiting for their doors to be open too. After about $15 of hold time I get a very happy “Hello there! Welcome to Tiger Direct’s credit department, how can I help you with your order from tiger direct?” BTW I’m not happy so this is really hard to stay mad to get answers when there’s this chipper woman on the other end  . I explain the situation & I come to find out that because I’m logged on to a Spanish internet provider & FPO addresses are registered as US mailboxes they think that my CC is stolen. Well, I’m the owner & no, it’s not stolen. I ask if there’s a way to flag this account as FPO = overseas & just might not be a US IP address. EEEEEEEH WRONG! They have no way to flag people’s accounts. Now (if ever) if I want to order something from tiger direct I need to call, be put on hold, & confirm that it’s my CC & that I really want to order the stuff. Since this really only applies to military I can imagine that their market is impacted that much, but talk about BS. They’ll never be seeing any of my money ever again. Now the completion of my comp is postponed till the power supply & DVD drives get here. ..l.. tiger direct

I've never been a fan of TigerDirect. The prices are fair but I've seen lower.

I'd try and give a call to NewEgg.com and see what their military policy is. I know they don't ship overseas but maybe you can work something out with them.

Sorry to hear you got the shaft. :(

Some companies rather play it safe than sorry.

I second Farabomb, I don't much care for Tiger Direct. They are usually overpriced on more items. I like NewEgg, Mwave, and AxionTech. On occasion, Directron.com.

i actualy ordered my mobo & cpu from newegg. they ship to FPO addresses to boot! on top of all that, their order got to me 2 business days ahead of my Mwave order (ram). i'll definatly be shopping with them from now on.
