Well, a bit off topic, but I wanted to plug it anyway. Went out and bought a new bed this weekend. I've never actually purchased my own bed before, and was currently sleeping on a busted up hand-me-down full size bed, with no frame, the boxspring was broken so the bed sagged like a U, and the mattress had tears all over. It wasnt a very good bed to begin with.
So, I had a bit of money for my vacation, and decided between a couch, a ps2 with 35" tv, and the bed...I went with the bed since I needed it the most. Sleeping in a U isnt comfortable for my back. I have a hiatal hernia with acid reflux disease, so my bed must also be elevated, something which was pretty much impossible with a broken boxframe.
I shopped around a few different places in the area, decided I really liked the pillow top kind of mattresses. Its got a firm under support, but the pillowtop lets you sink in a little when you lay on your side. Perfect for me. I also wanted to go to a Queen size, since im a fairly large person and I hate my feet sticking off. Afraid the boogie man will get em ;)
800-mattess is online, but also has an outlet in my area. The other places I went in to I was immediately assulted by sales agents who just wouldnt leave me alone to try different beds and compare prices, soemthing which really turns me off. The lady in 800-mattress was glad to help me out, but let me browse on my own. They had a pretty good selection, and the prices were a bit higher than the other places...but, you can haggle with buying a bed.
800Mattress had this great pillow top bed which was the perfect firmness for me (I found out im pretty picky when it comes to this). The bed was listed for $800, but i talked her down to $700. They included free shipping, free bedframe, and free removal of the old mattress (except for the tip you give to the delivery guys). The price was easily $200-$300 less than the other stores I went looking at. I bought it Saturday, and they shipped it this afternoon, a Sunday! They set it up, everything was great.
Its going to take me a while to get used to the new bed, and not sleeping in a U. But if anyone is in the market, definately check these guys out, even if you can only find them online. Definately a good experience. i definately recommend the pillow top style too :)
