Serve-U Question

Ok, I just downloaded Serve-U and like the interface very much, and set up the port forwarding...a test user, and got my friend outside the LAN to connect to the FTP, we got a connection, but he couldnt see what was in the directory i have marked as the shared one. he said it reported some error, like Data Socket Connection Error? anyone know what might be going on?

Mm. Thats pretty vague. It means he cant see the port. Either he's not online, or the port isnt being mapped properly on your end.

Some routers need to be restarted before port-maps take effect.

hmmm, well on my side i can see him connect and the user come up, but i just tried it with another friend who got the same thing, he seems to think it could be because we are both behind router firewalls..and i would be fine connecting to my ftp from a school computer that has a more advanced routing system.


But im still kinda clueless, ill have to try it from a school computer to really know
