Sounds like you already have a home network there. What specifically are you trying to do?

enable file sharing on both, and make both pc's in the same workgroup.
i assume the router assigns the IP addys.
then r/button click the desired sharing directorys and click share this folder :)

Can you see the other computer on the network? You may have 2 different domains.

Ahh, see if they belong to the same domain. If you have 2 different domains that may be the problem.

go to system properties, (r/button click my computer, properties)
then go to computer name, hit change at to rename this computer or join a domain, type workgroup under workgroup or whatever you want as long as the 2 computers match under this catagory.
if you dont have a server running server, don't bother with domain, it will open up security issues that cause it to be a pain in the tush, (no logon server and such).
that should do it bro! i dont know what the mac bridge is, if you dont have a mac get rid of that sucker.
if you need screen shots lemme know:)
if it says network cable unplugged, hmm. do you have 2 nic cards in one pc?

o.k. you are almost there, when you log on to both computers you must logon to NOTOR not on to your computername.
lemme know!

easiest way to fix that is enable the guest account on both computers and remove any firewall XP is or may be running.
gosh, you are soooooo close!

HERE (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/) is an excellet resource, it helped me alot when I started out with my home LAN.
Also don't forget to set yourself up in the boxes as a user WITH a password, I've not been able to map a drive without it.
So if Notor 1 is the admin in box 1 and Notor 2 is the admin in box 2 then you would have to create Notor 2 as a USER in box 1 and create Notor 1 as a USER in box 2. Once that is done you would have to give permission to specific folders for either the unique user (notor 1 or 2 USER) or the group that notor 1 or 2 belong to - in this example "USER".
Start there and then apply permissions to the users "notor 1" and "notor 2" that would allow you to create and change files.
LUCK and BEER!
lots of beer!
