Seems that my Radeon does not like me anymore. I installed the Catyalst drivers and now it's driving me up a wall. When I turn on the computer it's a crapshoot how far it will get before it stops and all I get are vertical lines on the screen and I have to reboot. It happens anywhere from right after POST to I can last 2 or 3 min in XP before it hangs. I have a old PCI card in here now and it's working fine. I'll try it later in my KT7 and see if I get the same. I'm thinking corrupt driver but I don't know. Anyone??

But how shall I clean it? won't there be traces in the registry?

Try to remove it on "Add or remove programs Windows section" Farabomb, after that install the last good one.About a traces, yes, there's a little chance that it continue to be on registry.

Well I just tried and it gave me :321: won't let me uninstall.
No biggie I have to reinstall XP when I get my KX7. I just can't play any games now. :(

Hey weird thing  did you try to roll back to the last one good?

I had it up long enough to uninstall the drivers but it still happened. The only thing I can think of right now is to try and put the Radeon back in but use the PCI card as output and try to reinstall working drivers.

well, there's a way on registry too. It's not so easy because video drivers use to write info on various sections of registry, but take a look on regedit. It use to be on Hkey_Local_Machine>System>ControlSet001 and ControlSet002 and CurrentControlSet>Control>Video.Take care with registry m8.

Yea, the registry is a dark and scary place but as long as I export the whole thing I should be safe. I'm still debating if it's worth it being that my KX7 should be here in a week.

Well I used system restore and so far it looks good. For how long, I don't know. Stay away from the newest drivers on warp2search.
I allways forget why they're beta :aargh!:

That was quick.
The Radeon quit in about 10-15 min. Now I'm thinking the card might have gave up and not the drivers. Anyway, Newegg just shipped my KX7 and some Corsair 3000 so I'll have to suffer till wed-thurs and see if it's really the card and not just some sh*tty drivers.
If it turns out that it's the card can anyone suggest a cheap replacement that would equal/surpass my Radeon 64DDR VIVO? I know all about the comming, Newest, Best, most expensive can't even afford but will sell my first born to have it hardware but I forget that there is a low-middle end that is quite good for a little cash.

Hi Farabomb,
I'm almost 99% sure that is not a card fault (i could be wrong here). It's a driver fault.A few weeks ago i had a problem with my geforce2 (4bits color only) and the only solution was fresh OS install again.Wait for your new rigs to check it.

I'm hoping it's not the card. I'd rather not shell out $100+ right now. I did my shopping for this month allready. ;)

Sorry if I missed this earlier in the thread, but did you say you already tried a system restore under Win XP?

I did a system restore last night and it worked for 15-20 min before doing it again. I checked the drivers after the system restore and they were the first catlyst drivers (I think) so maybe my card doesn't like the catlyst drivers. I'll find out when I get my KX7.
On a good note with 1x 256 2100 I can now get my A7V266-E up to 157fsb :D
I can't play games so I'll see if I can squeeze a little more out of this board before I retire it for a bit. :)
