Hey guys need some input on putting the w/c rig back together. I got a new rad and i'm making a new res. The rad is actually a heatercore out of a 2002 Trail blazer. It has 1/2 barbs on it, but the barbs come out then up, which makes it difficult to install into my case.
I wanted to do this, but the barbs don't go the right way. Would it be easier to bend? or cut the barbs off and re aling them?

Would there be any way that you could attach the heatercore (laying flat) at the top of your case, with a blow hole at the top?

Short copper pipe? Cut and solder in the orientation of your preference.

The barbs get in the way wacky.
aluminum not copper spldart
This is how I want to mount it, see how the barbs hit the side?

Or like this, but no where to put PSU then. You can really see height of barbs here.

Turn it over and cut holes in the case right where it's sitting, and put the barbs through the holes.

hey wacky,
which one? The thing is the barbs are angled so much they would come out the side either way, standing in pic2 or laying in pic1.

I was talking about pic2.
How about this, will it fit in a drive bay?

Don't think that aluminum will bend well, if you can't figure a way to mount as if, looks like cut is your only choice... If it were me I would hunt up a different Heater Core, don't care for the idea of aluminum mixing with the copper.

The only way to get any bends in that is to put repeated dings with light hammer blows inside the radius your making...Preferably with the tubing heated a bit for malleabilities sake.
Not to hot though.
It's preferable not to bend at all though cuz it's to easy to crack or break off :(

how 'bout mounted on the back wall? like same wall as MB mounts? with fans blowing out the side of the case??

Kinda backwoods, but cut a section out of the middle of the the barb just after the point where it goes from flatish to round, and join the parts together with hose and clamps or cut the offending section of the barb off and find hose that will take that radius. (excuse the picture)

Wacky,
They don't come out the back right, otherwise that's what i was going to do.
You can tell i bent the one allready, and it took alot of force to bend. I was afraid I was going to break it off from the bottom of the rad.
I got the thing for free so I might give kabooka's ideal a try.

I'm thinking along the same lines as kaboka. If you hack them off after the bend there looks like more than enough room to get some tubing and a clamp on it.

You've probably cut by now, and there was lots of scope for cutting by the looks. My only other thought was that I have had unexpectedly good results with cheap pipe benders $10 here from hardware. I was on smaller pipe but maybe worth a look.
