If I remember right food coloring stains the tubing and gums up the pump, so it'd probably be best to get a bottle of dye from dtekcustoms or something.

I can vouch for food coloring. It will coat every surface it comes in contact with and is very difficult to clean if you decide to change colors. It's good for detecting leaks though!! It stains the tubing and white connectors (if you use them) badly as Drake said. I guess if you have one color that you like it will be OK but your pump may not be happy. I just got the Dtek clear blue dye but I wont know if it is any better until next week. I like to change my water monthly. and often change colors when i do it. I just don't like to change the tubing or pumps often, especially the pumps, if you know what i mean.

What about uv dye?

And is their a differnce in performance between the 4 bolt vs. the socket hold down?

the kit i ordered didn't have the adapter so i had to buy it from danger den. I will be here friday.

UV dye is pretty much what you need, I know Snap-On tools sells it for leak testing auto cooling systems, as well as some auto parts stores. Another alternative which alot of people have good results with is to use the UV Hi-liters used to hilite text in books, papers etc, I guess you just dissect the hiliter and place the felt insides in a jar of water, assorted colors is kind of nice. Seems safe, and haven't seen any issues with coatings. I have seen some people say tubing gets stained, but that seems more an issue with the tubing, as all dye seems to do the same thing... the real Tygon tubing is usually what I see folks haveing stain issues with.

As for the Retension mechanism yes, the 4 bolts are more secure. Dangerden does seem to have a rather secure clip mount, but I would still go with the 4 bolts through the holes if possible. Actual performance can be effected by the pressure applied to the the dye, by the waterblock, there is an optimum point which the clip mechanism seems to sometimes have a problem reaching..

Ya I have two motherboards and theyboth have the socket hold down and not the bolts but i guess thats just what i will have to live with for right now.

Oh and i got the adapter yesturday so when i have my day off from work i will put it together. And i got a bottle of water wetter, and one more thing which is better for clamps the plastic kind or the metal worm screw kind.

I think i would try the Plastic ones, honestly I use Zip Ties, Cheaper, easy to get, come in nice UV colors, and I've yet to have a leak... I don't care for the metal automotive worm gear type clamps, they pinch the lines in place rather than clamp....

I got my system all put together and i am relived it is done but also mad cuz it leaks only when the pump is not running. What could be the problem? It leaks at my tee were i fill it up, and to be more exact it is the plug, which is a screw type. Any help would be great. And were is the best place to buy UV dye?

I could be wrong here but it sounds like a job for teflon plumbers tape. It is white non-adhesive thin tape on a roll and is used to seal threaded pipe sections. Any hardware shop will have it.

Hope that helps..._UR_
