YAYAYAY! finally new rig is built...... ahhhh pure bliss....

Abit ic7
P4 2.4ghz
512 3200 Kingston HyperX
Ati radeon 9700pro
120gig WD 8meg cache
Samsung cd-rw/dvd combo
Swiftec mcw5000
Swiftec mcw50
Eheim 1260
1/2 tygon
Black Ice Xtreme rad
antec 430 true power
criticool powerplant

and its all working perfect, after a scare the abit gave me when i first powered it up. I forgot the power plug on the 9700pro and it stayed black screen and beeped over and over, making my heart skip a beat and my stomach drop :P

Well anyways was playing with the fsb and this is the point i hit before it wouldnt cause errors in sandra or 3dmark2003. I've fixed my apg/pci, set the memory timings to 5:3 (um maybe it was 5:2 i dont remember :\ ) and then just optimised defaults, what other settings could i change to maybe hold a higher clock stable,
or did i set any of the ones i stated in the wrong direction. Can't wait to see how this rig will fold, that will have to wait. Also what software can i use to really burn-in the chip to test if the clock is stable. Pics will come as soon as i can find the wire for my digital camera :)

Congrats on the new system :D

F@H is as good a burn in program as any.

Prime 95 is really the best tool for showing stabilty.

I would reccomend trying to keep the memory speed as high as possible as that is almost always the bottleneck :)

ok running prime95 now and folding lets see how it holds up

due to hypertheading, do i have to run two intances of fah setting machine ID's 1 and 2, similar to a dual proc machine ???
or is there another way to do this?

I run 4 on every machine single or dual, it works with Player0's 4cpu.zip proggy:)

Nice rig Cabal!

My only suggestion would be to make sure you are manually setting the memory timings. I assume you went with the 5:4 memory divisor (and if you did not, change it to this). At 5:4 your memory will run at 208 with a FSB of 260. With a bit of extra voltage, you might be able to tighten the timings to CAS 2 6,2,2. This would give you a nice performance boost over the SPD settings.

Leave the Game Accelerator on Auto when overclocking.

well the p4 doesnt have a L1 "cache"
instead of physical memory space. It seems that it holds a specific number of instructions. thats what ive figured. (make sence to me)
correct me if m wrong.
but that woudl seem to mean
12,000 u operations....
what the u is for??

mabye thats the abbrevation for each pipeline stage of a particular operation
???
