I need some suggestions for a GPU block for a radeon 9800 pro. Not sure if I even need one as I'm not sure how much I can oc it or get benefits from doing so. It would be one less fan to deal with, though my 120mm radiator fan would mask the noise anyway.

So far I've been looking at the Maze4 GPU block (anyone seen any reviews) and the old Danger den gpu block. I want to make sure I can use ramsinks though.

The swiftech MCW-50 works good on mine. I have the MCW-50T which is the same block, just costs a little more, and comes with an 80w peltier. Very easy to setup, and cools real nice. Mine runs about 10*c below air temp, and I currently have my 9800 pro clocked at 475/360!

I would take the Swifty MCW50, well actually I already have :) The DangerDen Maze4 GPU looks like an interesting swifty clone, but no info on it yet :(

rua, you have the pletier block?

I have both, mcw50 on my 9700p and mcw50t to go on the 9800p.

value for your money would have to be the mcw50, the maze4 gpu block is also very good but cost more. both of this blocks have enough clearence for ram sinks.

what speed you have your 9800 pro at?

If your referring to me, my core will run about 460, memory will do about 380 before it artifacts, still running stock cooling on it so haven't pushed hard...

Are there any reviews on the maze4 gpu? I've read that the maze4 cpu block is not better than the maze3 so I'm curious to see how the gpu block performs.

Also, adding a gpu block in serial - right after cpu, is that a good idea? Will the cpu dump warm water onto the gpu?

And does adding a gpu block in line raise over all temps?

We have one cooking up here on LN...stay tuned:)

As far as your other questions, putting the GPU block right after the CPU block really isn't an issue. The water exiting the CPU block is only marginally warmer than before it entered (actually your water temps anywhere in the system are pretty much equal).

Adding a GPU block will increase your water temps slightly, but it's no reason not to add the block.

Procooling forums, I think. But I think they are pretty close.

Is it pretty easy to install a gpu block onto a radeon 9800 pro? My last video card heatsink change experience was bad. The card didn't forgive me when I accidently broke off a small transitor in the process of removing the stock heatsink.

I think its quite easy to mount wateblocks on the ATI 9x00, have had mine off/on a few times, no incidents. As with most hardware related projects a good amount of care goes along way..

Really rua, I've managed to get mine to run 480/360 for now, haven't experimented much for now with it, I need to get some airflow on my vid card now. Watercooling = no airflow in case.....

sounds like you got a decent 9800P, not real concerned with my Core speed, I'm sure with a bit of work it would do close to 500, mine seems to have exceptional memory, I'm hoping it will go over 400, i think my chances are good, one of these days;)
