ok recived XP pro today and did and upgrade install on my parents machine.. few questions. I don't have nic cards yet, so i can just skip the lan part for now right? Also can i still use my dial up to connect to the internet? Just like in win98.. i'am very familiar with XP pro but everything i need to know how to do.. i've never attempted b/c it is against school policy. thanks lee

Yes you can skip the LAN section, and you can still use Dail-Up for XP.

Ditto NY's response.
XP should find your modem card and install the appropriate driver.
Just run the Network Wizard and it will configure your net access around your modem. No sweat.:)
You'll like XP Pro a lot I think. So far the best OS to date IMOHO.

Hi Wes,
Too bad.
You know you can change the GUI to look like Win2K and not the "Dr Suess" look?
Anyway, sorry to see it go downhill in OS.
Take care..........
PS....You can get another modem (56K) for $20.00 most anywhere. Worth a thought.

lee,
that's how we have them looking for school..like w2k. I thought about getting a new modem...but it's one those funky modem and soundcard put to gether deals.. So that would rack me a lil more for a modem and soundcard. Oh well... no one really uses it.. it just crunches and someone ocassinally surfs the net..
Thanks anyway lee
