I'm building a new system, and was wondering what my options would be for a p4 tec block and actually also for AMD, is there any new options out there?

MCW5000 from Swiftech is supposed to be a good block for TECs, seeing how it's flow is directed from one end of the waterblock to the other instead of jetting on the middle. The Maze 4 is new as well, but I haven't heard much from it. It does have a similar flow pattern to the MCW5000, though.

Both blocks have AMD and Intel flavors.

yeah the swifty 5000 looks nice for a P4, however no good for AMD. If your going to go with pelts, and need compatibility with Intel as well as AMD, your best choice would be a Swiftech 462 UHT. The DangerDen and D-Tek blocks would probably do just as well, but I feel the open chamber design of the Swiftech lends itself to Pelt cooling better then the restrictive flow of the more modern designs. Also getting all the condensation prevention materials with the Swiftech is a pretty nice bonus...

heh so its the DD or the swifty. hmmm no other quality options? nothing new in terms of pelt cooling :(

Not that I've seen, anything else would probably be a custom.

I think Ruantic summed up the choices very well. If you are sure it's for an Intel application only....the Swifty 5000 does have an improved chamber design over the 462-UHT. However, as previously mentioned, there is no AMD mounting for the 5000 TEC so choose wisely. The gaskets of the Swiftech TEC blocks are still the best in the bizz. You can custom add gaskets to any block really, but the convenience of the Swifty stuff is nice.

if you're willing to wait you can opt for the maze4-1 when dd releases the a version that includes a gasket kit but i'm not sure when that'll happens.
