It should be done uploading to the FTP server in about 30 minutes (so by 8:30 i guess). Yeah, LN.com has the FTP but ive only given access to sponsored members (people who have donated something to the site) since FTP uses a lot of bandwidth. If you have sponsored, but dont have an FTP account, let me know and ill set it up. You can find it on 3dgamers.com or filemirrors.com otherwise.

Cant wait! Comon! Finish!

Well, after a couple days of playing around in this game I can honestly say I'm impressed. The demo only has two kinds of games really, Disc Arena and Lightcycles. Deathmatch is missing from the Demo, (ie, with all the weapons, not just the discs).

Disc Arena took me a while to figgure out. In fact, I had to think back to the movie to remember the game. Basically you have one team against another team, and you only have yuor disc as a weapon. You play on this 'grid' of sorts, and it's seperated from the other grid. No, you can't jump the grids, although I've seen many people die trying. Now, like in the movie, you throw your disk and if it hits the grid, the grid disappears (in the movie, its rings, and i suspect there will be a map like that in the retail game). You have a few second to jump off the grid. The grid will reform itself eventually. You can also throw the discs at opponents and cause them damage. It's very hard. Some cool things about the discs though.... it hurts going out and coming back. Much like the saber throw in Jedi Outcast. You can also call back the disk in mid throw. Using strafing, you can make the disc do little arcs that can create a much broader range of havoc for your opponents. You can also block attacks with your disc, which I thought was really fun. Block a disc and whip yours back at them. I can see this being VERY much like the movie intended with some control mastery. Until you get better with the controls, this game feels very shallow and unfullfilling. I didn't like it much at first, dying every three seconds. But being a little better now, we can get some drawn out matches going.

Lightcycles is also fun. There should be a 1st person mode though! Being in 3rd person mode makes the game play like the old Atari game. It just looks better. That didnt stop me from playing for 4 hours last night. The game is addictive, and gives you a real sense of speed and nightmarish apprehension. Multiple players (you dont want more than 4 on the demo map) makes the game much more fun, and much harder until theres two left.

Visually the game looks stunning. Even the demo which is stripped has a great look to it. The audio is also very dark and electronicy, I love it. The game is heavily stripped and definitely not perfected yet. It is a beta test after all. Controls are a little choppy on discs. The lack of deathmatch modes in the demo is a serious let down. The other two games are fun, but they are more like mini games, not the meat and potatoes. Will I buy the game in August? Yep, most definitely. From the looks of the beta, the game is going to be rock solid (just like UT2003 Demo ended up).

Monolith is one of the better studios - Blood I and II were both extremely innovative and different for their time, then the two NOLF games, and now Tron.

Synth, you may have to select the discs before you can throw them. Try H to unholster your weapon, or press weapon up.
