Yeah, we still have the occasional downtime. One of the routers LN.com uses has consistantly been failing on a daily basis. It keeps needing to be restarted. A quick restart solves the issue, but I am not sure what is causing it. LN.com continues to grow in traffic and visitors, and we simply may be taxing the cababilities of these smaller routers. I'm going to try and work with the vendor to see if we can get this issue resolved. There is also a slight possibility of hacking attempts, although this is probably not very likely.
I apologize for any inconvenience, and please stick with us as we try to correct the problem. We may have to spend money to get a prograde firewall. Or, I will build my own firewall box.

And down again. This is becoming a daily ritual.

That last bought of downtime was my fault. Guess reflashing the router remotely killed the thing. Now on a temporary solution until LN.com can scrape enough money to buy a new one.
Hopefully it doesnt go down when im on vacation July 4th weekend.

Thank you Wacky for the donation towards the new router!
BTW - The old router will be up for sale in a couple weeks. If someone out there needs a new router, I would really like to sell this one (can't return it) and the procedes will go entirely to buying LN.com a new router. It is a Linksys BEFSX41 router that I got from best buy for about $90. The router is going in to RMA service due to a bad flash in trying to fix the problem, and Linksys is sending me a brand new unit in return. The router is a really nice one with VPN access and SPI security (best you can get, if you dont have SPI on your router its worth an upgrade). If i dont get any interest for the router here, I will throw it on Ebay. The router is fine for home use, just dont try to host a site with 200,000 unique visitors a month with it ;)
I'll be purchasing a new high-end router for the site at a cost of about $300. Serves me right for trying to go cheap before. This new one should handle our increasing server load for at least another year. And if anyone knows where I can get a deal on a new high-end router, I'd love to know about it. Thanks!
