I have 2 120mm fans that are 3 pin & I want to quiet them down. Can I hook them up to 3-to-4 pin adapters & the do a 7 volt mod on the adapter? Will that work? I don't want to have to buy new fans & don't know if there is any other way to 7 volt a 3 pin fan. Any help fellas?

Yep. In fact its pretty easy to mod those 4-3 pin adapters for 7v.
Another option is to spend $25 and get like a Vantec Nexus fan controller from like 2cooltek.com. I use lots of these, and they can control multiple fans. The blue led's look cool, and you have a much wider range of fan adjustment.

What kind of 120mm 3pin fans?
I've been looking for some high cfm 120mm fans with 3pin - even rpm sensing.
