I'm somewhat psyched 'cause I just finished putting together some cheapo crunchers consisting of refurb'd AK35GT2, XP1700 Tbred B, Speeze or Glacial Tech CPU coolers, Sparkle 300 and 350 Watt PS and Geil PC 2700 256 MB DDRAM. Works like a charm!

Got the XP 1700 up to 2197MHz running F@H2. I'm sure it's old hat news, but it's a kick in the pants. Spent about $500 for 3 systems (had NIC, Vid, Floppy, CD and old HD laying around).

Neat thing about the 1700 is that they're factory unlocked to boot!

the xp1700's are amasing. mines at 2360 at the minute and still climbing they are undoubtably the best bang per buck right now :)

Yes, they are really something!

I also just slapped together another rig with spare parts and an XP1700. It's doing 2.1ghz on air and stock voltage! Total investment beyond what I had laying around....$40...for the XP1700 from Newegg. I'm sure with some voltage and better cooling it would go much much higher.

I promised the wife I'd be cutting back on the hardware in the house, but this system just blows me away:

KR7A-RAID
XP 1700 with old CAK38 HSF
1 256 of generic 2100
4G HD, 3Com NIC, TNT, FD, CDROM, 250w PSU, case (raided from a client's old junked rig)

Running at 168 x 12.5 for 2.1ghz....rock stable, even with that generic RAM....unbeleivable! Total out of pocket $40:D
