I have the external Koolance water rig with the DangerDen blocks for the cpu, NB and for my GPU.
I have 3 harddrives, 2 Raptors WD and 1 WD 200G.
Looking at this Koolance harddrive casement, is it really worth buying?
I have the Lian Li case and it has to 80 fans blowing onto the hardrives so I'm not sure if it's relevant.

I think HD cooling is HIGHLY important these days. I wouldnt waste my time with watercooling them though.
An 80mm fan blowing right over some adequately spaced drives is perfect. Better yet, mount them in the 5-1/4 bays with some large aluminum HD heatsink-holders. They work extremely well (dont bother with the ones with 40mm fans though, they burn out faster than crap).

I'd think that the reduction in waterflow wouldn't be worth it, given the fact that you already have two fans blowing across them. I have a Lian-Li (very roomy!!) as well, I put a temp probe between the HD's and really don't notice that much of a variance from ambient
I would consider the cooler if I had closely stacked HD's with little or no air flow in the case.

I have an IBM 80 GB and a WD 200GB in a cage like in the picture (without the waterblock of course) and without any airflow they inevitably fail within one or two days due to heat. Even after waiting thirty minutes the HDs were still too hot to hold comfortably.
But with one 80mm fan all is kosher. I agree with Tom, HD cooling is important, but not to the degree to invest in watercooling for them.

the only time you might need better than ambiant temp is if you have a server room with very poor ventalation. But at that point most companies would have an fan added to the doors of the room.
Personaly i have 6 hd's now for p2p and i have a 92mm fan for every 2 . The 180 gig gets warm but i have never had it get hot.
I did toy with the idea of getting a custom block made to enclose scsi drive but it's really not worth the money and water restriction.

Thank you for the input and decided not to purchase it for the reasons stated.
Thank you again!!:clap3:
