Hi notor,
Are you asking about a heatsink, a fan, or both?
If I were to pick out a heatsink it would be a toss up between the ALPHA PAL8045 and the Thermalright SLK.
As for a fan I would pick any 80mm fan.

maybe a combo,...like from Tt or Thermalright

DJ5 did a nice review on the Thermaright SLK-800a w/ 80mm Vantec Tornado.
Check it out here. (http://www.liquidninjas.net/reviews.php?op=showcontent&id=38&page=1)

I don't see why not.:)

Hi,
check my sig :) but for a higher air flow the best out there are the 80mm Delta's but come added extra noise  I found the mechtronic fan is a good compromise .... have a look here (http://www.amdmb.com/article-display.php?ArticleID=232)

SLK-900, MCX462/4000, SLK-800U/A, Alpha, Cooler Master XDream SE
That's pretty much in descending order of cost and performance (not to say the lower end ones are shoddy by any means). Take your pick, then pick a fan.

hey dude, thanks. nice review there. so you got the 80mm Mechtronic Fan, is that good enough for an O/C barton 2500+, i know that vantec and the delta are the best, but when i heard the sound files,
so does your fan function?? and where can i get the same 80mm Mechtronic Fan?
with kindest regards

Just finished burning in my barton 2500+ got it folding 24/7 at 2.6 ghz with an slk900U and a 92mm Tornado, runs about 40C

Hi notoriousformula :)
IMHO the mechtronic fan is fine for your Barton I am using it on an OC XP2700+ myself ..... I am not sure where to find them in the states but searching or other members should find them.
Over the years I have found that the RPM of a fan is soooo important as it produces a much higher downward pressure as the revs increase which is why a 60mm delta fan out performs many if not most 80mm fans.
So look for fans with higher rpm... my machine runs in the mid 30'sC (and its summer now) when I tried various 80mm fans with lower rpm's the temp really rose quickly :( and the only better result was using the 80mm Delta but I bought my heatsink so I could fit a quiet 80mm fan or so I thought

hey guys, i'll check all these fans and post my last decision,
many thanks to drake, big ben and Ruantic :D
yes i got the point that higher RPM means more cooling,
but one last question, does the tornado really makes big noise.. i mean i read really bad stuff about the noise at the AMDMB.COM
with kindest regards to all

Yeah if run wide open its pretty loud, whats crazy though is setting it on a desktop, and watching it push itself around, the 92 moves enough air to propel itself around my desktop.....
I've got mine running on 7 volts, its pretty quiet at that speed and maintains temps within a couple degrees of wide open...
From what I've read the 92mm Tornado is quieter then the 80mm Tornado, and if you run it on a rheo or some other voltage controller the sound level becomes managable, and performance loss isn't to great, plus for really hot days or an extra stressfull session you can crank it up....

Yup, I'd take a high RPM/loud fan with rheobus over any set-speed fan. The adjustability is great for hot days of hours of intense gaming :)

anyone useing a Thermalright SLK-900U with Vantec Tornado - 92x92x38 - 4800RPM - 119CFM - 56.4DBA on a NF7-S 2.0?I was wondering about the fit,Thanks
another question:I bought a retail 2500 barton and it came with heatsink and fan, what I was wondering can I use this heatsink and fan on a 1400 tbird in a kt7a board running at stock speed?

Hi Pistol,
According to the Thermalright website, the fit is OK.

The retail HSF's are a bit weak but you should be fine m8. Just keep a eye on the temps for a bit just in case. :D

I'm still using AS3 but anything from AS should do the trick. :D
Drake

AS3 or Ceramique seem to be the top picks, the only difference it seems is that AS3 voids CPU warrantees and Ceramique doesn't.

on the Thermalright SLK 900U I was wondering which type of fan connector that I would be useing, one of those small type that plug into MB or one that I can hook to power line, looking at 92mm fans now,Thanks

I got my first tube of AS Ceramique, and its fine stuff. Better than AS3, imho.
Hows that SLK900U Pistol? Im getting a Swifteck MCX4000 and it has 92mm fan connectors on it. I love large fans on the CPU, makes things extra frosty and much quieter for the same CFM.

putting in that order now,had to do some work first,I'm gonna try that AS Ceramique :)

It comes in a BIG tube. Like a turkey baster. I love it though because its so much easier to work with than AS3, and seems to work better as well.
I havent had a chance to test it on a TEC. I know the AS3 has poor cold temperature performance. Alex, you should pick up some ceramique and see if it helps your TEC temps.

Hmm, not a bad idea seeing as I think I'm out of AS3. :D :D

been using ceramique since it came out, its good stuff, but you have to be carefull on lapped surfaces, the stuff really sticks, and on a p4 with the plastic cage, it can be tough to break the vacuam seal...

heh, I know what you are saying, one time I was taking the HSF off a 3.06 (back when that was the fastest) at my work, and I finally go the heatsink, and look at the socket, WTF, where is the CPU!!!!!! it was still stuck to the bottom of the heatsink.
