I am looking for the best mobo for the claw hammer 64bit system, what is the best mobo, hard drive, video card, ram, I am getting Vapo Chill case, looking to over clock the hammer. I would like to get a mobo with raid. Please provide your comments and suggestions. Money is not an issue.

Opteron and Athlon 64 are not the same thing. The Athlon 64 is the desktop version.

Actually Opteron and Athlon64 are quite a bit different, at least...compared to MP/XP.
You can get an Opteron board right now if you look around hard enough. I sure hope money isn't an object because you'll be paying through the nose for one. HardOCP has a couple dually opterons running.
Me, I'm waiting to see Athlon64 before I buy it. You cant beat Intel right now.

so is it worth waiting for Athlon 64, cus i wanna get and AMD system soon, prolly Barton 2500+ and ABIT NFS7-S 2.0 or ASUS A7N8X-DX board.
cus, if that thing is goin to be expensive and the new mobo, i'll just go buy the Barton 2500+ :(
any comments?

I agree with Tom. Athlon 64 is a long way off, and unless you're using server applications, you don't need a server board. If money is not an issue, I'd get an Abit IC7-G, P4C 3.0GHz, 1GB TwinX Corsair PC3500, whatever gfx card suits your needs, 2x WD Raptors in RAID 0, and anything else you can put in the system :)
Unless you're intent on getting an AMD system, Intel is the way to go now. Otherwise, I'd wait for Athlon 64.

Actually, for quite a bit cheaper, you can get a IS7-C, a P4 2.8C, and the rest the same, and youll get the same performance (or better cause the slower P4 will clock with a higher FSB).
There's no way I would buy an AMD system right now. Forget Barton, forget the NFS7. They cant touch the P4 lines. AMD is only a good choice for a budget system, like a KD7 and a XP1700+ or something. AMD's top end stuff well, isnt.
Athlon 64 is likely to be overrated. It may not be worth buying until late next year. There's not even a 64bit version of Windows XP yet. Is Server 2003 even 64 bit?

Damn MicroShitty and thier support for Intel! :2guns:
Two months ago, I invested in an AMD system (see sig below), but then again, I am a hardcore AMD fan. If it dosen't matter to you, then Intel would be the way to go.
