My only problem is that on occasions.. when booting/restarting my system locks up at "Detecting IDE Devices"

Even hitting the restart button doesnt resolve it.. i need to power off my pc entirely.. and then it usually boots normally.

This only happens about once every 4 days..

Here is my setup:

Abit Nf7-s 2.0
Athlon XP 2100+ (205 x 11)
1 x 512Mb KingMAX 3200
2 x 80GB SATA Seagate HDD (Striped RAID)
1 x Sony CDRW 24x (Master)
1 x Sony 52x CDROM (Slave)
128Mb Sparkle Geforce Ti 4200
Realtek Network Card

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Have you tried setting the ATAPI devices to Cable Select rather than Master/Slave?

hmm.. ill try that.. i just tried the CDROMs on separate IDE channels both set as master..

i have also gone back to default CPU speed, voltage and memory timings.

though ill try them as CS tonight..

btw.. this wouldnt be related to my HDDs would it?

SATA RAID HDDs arnt detected by normal BIOS are they? so i can rule them out cant i?

Correct...they will only be recognized by the Silicon Images BIOS.

BTW, if you had one regualr IDE with nothing connected to it (running ATAPI devices on a single cable) sometimes it helps to disable the unused IDE. But, since you are trying the ATAPI devices on seperate cables on master, that might help too.
