Only some of you will appreciate this, but look here:

http://lcweb2.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/f?prok:0:./temp/~pp_HOOP:

These pictures were taken in the late 1800s, early 1900s by a Russian photographer who was genious enough to use Red Blue and Green filters with high-res b&w film. The result, over 100 years later with the aid of computers, we can merge the images in to high-res color photos over 100 years old.

This is amazing to me because the images look like they were taken yesterday, and it offers a glimpse in to the past like I have never seen before. Unlike old grainy photos of the 1900s, these people look real, they look like people I know, yet they are from a completely different period in time. The genious of taking RGB pictures back then (although I doubt anything came of it until recently) was really beyond it's time. None of us could do better if we traveled back in times with our current day knowledge ourselves.

And thanks to zzz.com.ru for pointing out this great link to me.
