Well .. I'm in a bind.

Project Visitor the latest incarnation of my oldest favoritest game 10six finally came back online, and it will NOT RUN when my system is Overclocked. had to back everything down to factory specs and now it runs.

SOAB !! My newest favoritest thing is my nicely OC'd 1700B ... my oldest favoritest thing is playing that game.

What to do ???

OC shouldn't matter if its stable, whats happening, full lockup, dump to desktop, corrupted graphics? Maybe the vid card is locking? AGP/PCI locked? You must have something that isn't 100% stable at your current clock.... Or perhaps when the entire system is working 3D? its straining your power supply? Hard to diagnose without more details, but perhaps I've given you somethings to consider....

RUANTIC thanks for the interest ...

normally I run the system folding 24/7 .... I have a patched driver on the ATI 9500 .. but replaced that with the original BIOS ...

When I log into the game and it takes over the graphics .. at that moment .. the screen flashes the lil blue "power off in 5 seconds" that the monitor always done when sutting off the PC .. then goes dead. normally. occassionally it will go into a fubar graphic mic whith vertical columns of fuzzy color. Crazy part is - I can still hear audio FINE .. messenger will ding away, the games music is going, etc.

BUT nothing will respond -no keyboard inputs at all ie ctr/alt/del etc .. have to power off hard and restart.

As soon as I went back to vanilla factory settings, everything was fine. I'm betting you hit it with the AGP PCI settings .. but honestly I don't believe I'd overclocked the praphics card other than the driver hack to boost it to a 9700 .. AND I thought the AGP PCI was locked on this board. Hmm I dunno ?

Make sure on the NF7 you set (fix) the AGP manually to 66.

Is that A BIOS or a jumper setting ?

damn .. was set at 66 . had never changed from 66 ....

One thing thats always messed with my mind on this board are the FSB/DRAm ratios .. I messed with them a bit but never understood them .. they are now at by spd

didn't see a 33 option or anthing about pci though

Setting the AGP to 66 automatically sets the PCI to 33mhz (it runs at one half of AGP).

Set the FSB/DRAM option to 6:6. This will run your memory and FSB synchronously for best performance and stability.

Also, try running your timings manually at CAS 2 7,3,3.

We'll talk about this more when you come by this weekend to pick up your goodies:D

Mike .. I'm trying what you said - just to be certain ...

In SmartMenuIII ... when I set expert memory timings to 2-7-3-3

They go in order .. but the wrong order .. meaning CAS latency is the last item .. I want to make certain I have the other three in the right order - so -

Current settings in order from Smart Menu III :

Row Active Delay 3
Ras to Cas Delay 3
Row Precharge Delay 7
CAS Latency 2.0

DId I get them right ??
