Anyone here play this game yet?

I got it the other day and kinda liked it, but I've noticed the game is poorly optimised (or something) LOL. I ran the game with all visual settings maxxed out (resolution of 1024x768) and it all appeared to be sweet and smooth ... until ... I pressed N for nightvision mode and the game slowed down to a crawl, less than a crawl (no more than 1 frame per minute!!). If this wasn't bad enough I noticed the game slowed down when weather effects were heavily used ... AND if I used the sniper scope or fired the railgun everything slows to about 1 frame per minute. It's really bad, and considering RF2 is nothing more than a console coversion you'd think a systen like mine would have no problems running it.

In the end I reduced the visual settings and the game runs fine ... but come on it should be better than that, hell Unreal 2 demands more of a system and I can run that a max settings!!

Anyone else notice these problems?

Yeah I have that same problem. I have a geforce FX 5900 Ultra, Windows XP pro, 512RAM. I have the Nvidia media center running and the nightvison slows Redfaction 2 to a crawl of .2 frames per second when anti-aliasing is activated outside of the game. Enabling anisotropic filtering or texture sharpening doesn't cause problems. But this kind of sucks that I cant even do a X2 anti-aliasing. I would rather have that than the anisotropic filtering.

Let me know if you find out anything.
my e-mail is mmustric@yahoo.com
