hey :)
I have finally got round to starting to o/c my stuff... I have an Abit NF7-s with a 2400+, but only on air cooling. At the moment, I am running at 187*12.5 to give me about 2350mhz. Using the onboard CPU temp sensor, the cpu usually reads around 39/c. I dont want to push this to hard yet, as its still my new toy, but what is the max safe temp that you guys would recommend that i could safely run this at, and how accurate is that sensor?
And thanks for the advice on purchasing the NF7-s - great mobo! :D

Hi DCMan,
You can safely run that sucker at 70 degrees C forever.
AMD says it will run much higher forever also, but I personally say 70 degrees.
If you are running at 39 degrees C, run on , my friend.
Take care.........

Aye, 39C is no sweat, it's in the high 60's and 70's that you need to think about investing in better cooling :D

Been Folding on my 1700+ and just backed it down when ambient temp around here started going up with spring weather. Its around 50 and doing fine. Sounds like yours is at idle most of the time ?

Hey :)
well, it hit 40/c after doing 3dmark2001 and superpi for 20mins solid at the same time, so its not being too idle ;)
how accurate is that temp sensor on the mobo?

With the latest BIOS, the temp sensor is very accurate:)

It depends ... sometimes even if the sensor itself is super accurate (which is rare), it still might not be incontact with the chip very well (and so, wont give accurate readings).
Personally I don't trust it ... I use a combo of the socket sensor;, a Senfu thermal probe taped to the top of the cpu, and pushed up against the side of the core; and the temp monitor mounted on my Vapochill cooler. Between these three I get a better idea of whats really going on with my cpu. The differences can be quite crazy too. For instance, after sitting running SETI for half a day the socket will say around 35*C; the probe at the core around 15*C; and the Vapo temp about -5*C. Also my socket temp can be a bit strange becasue there's a piece of foam insulation in the socket hole (with a hole cut in it to allow the probe to poke through), and that can kinda make the temps a bit funny.
