I can get an Abit IS7, 512m (2x256) XMS3200LL Ram, and a P4 2.8C HT 800mhz for under $600 shipped from NewEgg. The 2.8C will hit 3.2g easy on air cooling so I've heard.

And I have a $200 lian-li case at home sitting there all lonely since before I lost my job just begging for a Vapochill and a new board. but im still on a budget for a while.

I hear good things about the 865PE, and apart from no ECC support, it seems to clock just as well, if not better, than the 875P.

I'll be building this new system with in a couple months, so I'm just looking right now really, I have a few other expenses to take care of first. Any opinions on this setup yet?

Haven't seen alot of feedback on the motherboard, what I have seen has been mostly positive. I think it would be a decent setup, although I really love the IC7 :)

Check out THIS (http://www.anandtech.com/chipsets/showdoc.html?i=1823) review from Anandtech. It'll get you drooling even more if not actually compel you to go to the NewEgg page and order up that combo. Bottom line, for a good chunk of change less, the IS7 (and 865P Springdale boards in general) give the Canterwood boards one helluva run for the money. The only reason to get a Canterwood board is if you are going to run an P4C chip, which your are planning on. And there is no doubt that the IC7 is as sweet of a board as they come (my all time fav board now...no kidding), but it's hard to ignore that you can have 95 to 97% of that performance for 20% less cash.

One small caution. Anandtech did struggle with the Corsair 3200 in the review as you will note if you check out that link. It looked to be the standard 3200 and not the low latency stuff though. Either way, my understanding is that Abit has already fixed the issue for the boards currently shipping.

Not a bad combo at all for the money there P0:D

I saw the slight performance loss on the IS7. So, it looks like I'd probably go IC7, just cause.

Well see how life goes in a month, I imagine the ram problems will be ironed out by then.
